My turbo leaks oil into the exhaust side causing a blue cloud of smoke the size of Texas behind me. I just installed new tuner toy lines and a mechanical auto meter oil pressure gauge. Im puzzled when I start my car and my oil gauge is on the verge of maxing completely out. So I put two and two together High oil pressure + Turbo=smoke. This is when I don’t get it, my catch cans are vented so why would the oil pressure be so high? Im guessing that’s why my turbo leaks oil into the exhaust? Any thoughts?

what turbo and what restrictor are you running?

Some turbos need to have a restrictor put in to prevent over pressurising the turbo. Most turbos need less than 20PSI. Your oil pump probably puts out at least 80PSI in the higher RPMs. Too much pressure forces the oil past the seals on the turbo and gives you the running camoflage. Chances are that if you are loosing that much oil, the seals are shot, and you will have to replace the CHRA (center housing rotational assembly) or rebuild the turbo.

you need an oil restrictor if the pressure going into the turbo exceeds i think 35psi.... not sure.
Got Vtec?

I would just run an oil restrictor no matter what just to be safe.

I'm assuming you have the 100psi oil pressure guage and so you are probably seeing 80psi or so at cold start that's normal. If you are running a -3an oil feed line to your turbo you don't usually have to run a oil restrictor, but anything bigger then that you want to. Too much oil pressure will ruin your oil seals. Also, check your oil return to see if it's kinked or if it slopes down a bit. On my old setup, my oil return dipped just a tiny bit and it smoked like crazy.

Who makes a good restrictor? I ran one for awhile and it didn’t work... then come to find out my oil return line was kinked. unkinked still smoked. Then I got tuner toy lines thinking it might solve my problem, same thing now im here. so im guessing i need a new turbo and restrictor???

I recieved mine at ATP TURBO. And it's well worth the money unless you want to spend couple hundered dollars rebuilding or buying a new turbo.
