I think this goes here: If not please move it to its proper location.

So I just bought another 91 white si. It has a blown motor and 222,000 miles on it. I haven't actually seen it yet because I am @ college 2 hrs from home. I had my dad go and pick it up for me.

I want it set-up for a reliable, occasional driver. I probably won't drive it that much because I have my RSX that I like driving more.
Right now I am probably going to buy a zc sohc from Hmotors. It is a direct drop in and will be good for now, since I don't have much money to spend.

Eventually I'd like to do a better swap. B16 or B18

My main question is: Should I buy the ZC tranny with the motor for $150????

Since the car has a blown motor, my dad couldn't drive it. So I don't know if the tranny is good, or if the clutch is good, etc.

Has anyone purchased the zc motor and tranny from HMO???
Thanks

i would definately go with a new tranny. even if the tranny still works, chances are that if the motor is blown, the tranny isn't in that great of condition either.

heck ya, i bought a few of those trannies, how could u pass it up for 150bux... just make sure u get some 1990-1993 integra inners and u will b golden, cause on those trannies they have 44mm inners and i believe the regulars D series tranny is 38mm? but ya just build the new axles.. easy..

Sorry guys, we aren't here to agree B swap.

We are here to talk and discuss about D and their qualities. I'm not shitting on B series, tottally the opposite they're very nice engines, but I like D for some reasons, and no money to 'invest' in a B H or K.

So when I all HMO to place my order just tell them that I need the 90-93 Integra inners?
What do you mean build the new axles?

For the SOHC I won't need anything but the motor for it just to drop in.

I say do what you are planning on, the 91 is light enough that even a sohc d will make it plenty fun. Its easiest to do and cheap too.

I was told by someone locally that he could get me a d16y7 engine with 100k miles on it for $375. But then I think I would need to change mounts, ecu, and a few other things.
I am not sure the difference between the d16y7 and d16y8.
