Like the subject states I'm new to owning a D-series. I work for a Acura dealer as a tech. I've worked on cars for about 15 years and on Acuras for 4 years and I've never ran across a d-series Integra. All of the 1st gens are rusted away.

Anyway I picked up a 1993 Del Sol with a Z6. The motor is locked up and #3 rod was damaged along with the crank and block girdle. The head appears to be ok. So my question is do you guys think I should get a DOHC ZC or a SOHC zc and use the Z6 head on it. I want to keep the motor NA but would like it to be quick.

Thanks

Craig

An obd1 ZC will be a straight swap.
You wont be able to put a Z6 head on a ZC block without machine work they have a different head stud layout.
But yes you should be able to get hold of a sohc ZC short block for your Z6 head but I dont know why you'd bother as the blocks are the same.
The sohc ZC runs pm6 pistons, check what compression that would make with your Z6 head.

If I were you, I'd either go OBD1 ZC full swap to be a bit different.
Or
Get hold of another Z6 short block because at least that way you are assured that the compression will not change.

Good luck with it.

ok NO VTEC DOHC ZC not gunna happen unless ur loaded and can make your own head. but if that were the case you wouldent need d-series foe your help. lol

but an obd 1 zc would be a perfect swap 4 u. when u have lifts at work and can do it their then yep a zc is the ticket

Source a JDM DOHC ZC from a EG5 (OBD1) & go from there. They're an under-rated engine, with heaps of torque & potential , & they're different to the same old B-series. Should be no problem for you also having all the gear & access to OEM parts.

Dude seriously I would go with the DOHC ZC, as this is what I have in my 92 DX hatch, and I love it... I was going to go with the D16Z6, but after riding in my friend's car wiht one and then driving mine now that I have done the swap I love the ZC over it.... but then again I am running an OBD0 engine in my car right now...so once I convert it back to OBD1 and tune it some more it will be even better.....check out thezcr.com for more info on the DOHC ZC if you still have any questions about it....
