i have the blacktop zc dohc engine ...well its been vibrating at the 1900-2000 rpm range for a couple months, it doesnt seem to affect power though..no matter what gear im in , i know its not the tranny b/c i just swapped that out w/ new clutch & flywheel..the motor mounts are fine ..oh and i can feel it vibrating on the shifter , as well as the whole car..any help on this would be greatly appriciated , thanks.

what kinda condtion are your motor mounts in?i would suggest buying a e/s shifter kit and that sloopy feel will be a thing of the past.

does it do it on acceleration only? or does it do it in neutral when you rev it too??

If it is during acceleration, chances are your axles inner joint is shot.

i think it might be internal, could the crankshaft be out of balance or something, its been driving me crazy,i cant figure out what it is , one of my friends said that all i need to do is get a light weight crank pully , you know one of thos aluminum ones w/ single belt...i dont know what to do ..i know i cant be the only one with this problem

i have this problem too. mine does it at all rpm's? i think it's the axles. there is a green ring on the axle and a ring on the knuckle that has 2 come off. it causes a bind. i'm tryin it this weekend i'll let u know if it fixes it! if u have fixed this problem i need help

My sohc does it too right around the same rpm. No power loss like you said. Might be a little unbalanced when I rebuilt it. No noise or rattling. Shouldnt be an issue.

The crank pulley would have nothing to do with this, unless it is severely damaged or dented. If that was the case depending where the damage is you would be losing belts. I don't think your crank is out of balance Honda would not have put a motor in a car if that was the case. Plus if that were the case you would be starting to wipe out bearings, and you would find lots of metallics in your oil. You said you swapped the flywheel, correct? Is it a stock flywheel, or did you get it re-surfaced? If the flywheel is not balanced correctly, it may create the same effect. If that is whats happening you will do some serious damage to your transmission down the line. It could be a number of things my man. First thins first you should check your mounts, then listen for any distinctive pinging/knocking from the bottom end. You have this ZC in a CRX, correct? I' thinking its your mounts man, you may not have tightened one/more of them down enough. One may have come loose, or the rubber may be beat.

One thing you can try, get a Friend to sit in your car while you push on the front of the motor, apply enough force at idle to see if the vibration stops. Have your Friend slowly take it out to 2,000 RPM while you do this. If the vibration goes away its your mounts. If not and you still feel it, its something internal. You should then check that crank pulley for any damage, if none than start to look at the possibility, the flywheel is not balanced correctly.
