i still havent done the y8 intake swap on my y7 (its hard to find one off an auto)
all i seem to find is ones off manuel trannys.

will manuel intakes work on autos?
will the z6 IM work on a y7?

All 96-00 non-vtec and auto motors used 3-wire IACVs. If I remember correctly the Y7's have the sensor on the throttle body, so just use a Y8/Z6 mani with your Y7 TB and you'll be set. Hope this helps.

I would just leave the 2-wire IACV in place, just not plugged in.

leave the manual iacv bolted to the intake, then plug off any vacuum lines on it.

now you have to find one with this flange. pssst... 96-98

I've read that the automatic Y8 mani is a direct bolt on for the auto Y7
and that the manuel Y8 requires a little more work.
is this true? and wheres that thread that walk thru this swap?

well the y8 mani i just swaped on was from a 99 manual....i just jeb welded the air injection holes shut, got a 2000 ex IM gasket, and bolted on the y8 iacv but did not wire it up........use yor y7 tb. you only have to swap on the y8 throttle rotor and y8 throttle cable. no big deal

Yes, an auto pretty much does bolt on, I just finished mine a week ago, just different size hosing in a couple of places.

The manual requires you to either leave on the 2-wire iacv or take it off and block it so it doesn't create a vacuum leak. If the y8 tb is from a manual, you have to use your y7 tb but you have to use the throttle rotor from the y8 tb. The y8 manual tb doesn't have the 3-wire iacv, but the y7 tb does.

Injectors, if you're using your y7 ecu, use the y7 injectors. If using the y8 ecu, use the y8 injectors. (correct me here if i'm wrong).

here's the thread with pretty much the complete breakdown on it:

hope that helps =D
