I am piecing together a turbo kit for my 93 si with the d16z6. I have everything(manifold, injectors, eclipse stock turbo) the only thing I need to buy is an external wastegate and I need some help. I am trying to do this as cheap as possible. First of all, what size should I get, does it matter? What do the different sizes do? (difference between like 35mm and 38mm). second, to stay cheap, I was going to buy an ebay wastegate for like $50 dollars. Is this a bad investment? I know everyone will say go with tial or another good, expensive brand, but the car was only $500 dollars and I really want to do this cheap. I was also curious about the Ebay BOVs. are they junk as well? I appreciate all the advice. Thank you.

I'm running a cheap ebay wastegate and it seems to be working fine for me. Just take it apart and check the diaphram for any holes or other damage, make sure it's seated properly in the housing. For modest HP levels I really dont think there is a big difference between a 35 and 38mm gate.

TIAL imitation wastegate... I got one. No problemos they are about $170 at stores found lot cheaper on ebay.
No there is no big difference with 35 vs 38mm. Opening times are around the same, and basically it's all related to the spring inside.

stock eclipse turbo is internally gated. so you may not need one. and what manifold are you running. im not sure if you can find a t3 to 14b adapter plate. but if you are planning on running an hf mani, then you dont have a place for a wastegate and i wouldnt recommend trying to add one to your mani.

yeah the 14b/t25 are bother internally gated. I think they are both pretty close to 8psi.......
just use that. If your not planning to run lots of boost i wouldnt worry about the hassle of blocking the internal off and the buying an external.
