i just helped my buddy put some combustion cleaner in his dodge ram 1500. we reved the motor about 2000 rpm's and sprayed the cleaner through the throttle body. we let it sit for about 2 hours and then drove that bitch hard.

he says he felt a difference in performance and said his idle was way better. he thinks we should put some honda combustion cleaner in my civic because its "high mileage."

not really high mileage for a honda motor, its at 116,608 right now but my idle is rough as fuck. i do all my oil changes every 2 1/2 months, and i replaced the spark plugs with ngk's when i got the car back in may. if anything im thinking the cleaner will give me a couple more miles to the gallon and run a ll cooler.

will combustion cleaner help me out any?

well i whent ahead and visited my local honda dealership to pick up some combustion cleaner today. i had my buddy spray it into the throttle body while i reved the motor just enough so it wouldn't stall. i let it sit for about 1 1/2 hours and then took it for a spin. there was a lot of white smoke coming out my exhaust but i could feel the engine having more torque. after i got back from my little spin there was a grip of black nasty carbon shit all in my exhaust it and muffler. i cleaned it all out while i wshed my car this afternoon.

over all, my idle is a little better and theres was more torque when i need it. it waseasy to do and only cost me about $5.00

Sounds good. What exactly was it you put through?

i took off the intake and sprayed it directly at the throttle plate.

the bottle syas it cleans gum and carbon deposits in the throttle body, intake manifold, intake valves, and combustion chamber.

i think it works, and it makes less emmissions so im gonna use it again when i have to do my next smog check.

yeah man...i used taht seafoam stuff...cant say i felt a diff. on my ass dyno..but my gas mileage went up prob 4-5 mpg..i put it through my fuel tank...sucked it through my brake booster...and poured some in my crankcase...made my oil REALLL BLACCKKKK when i changed the oil a day later..never i ha di ever seen it so black..suaully its still taht dark brown when i change oil....i spent the day getting on my car hard when i put sefoam through it...n not a WHOLE ton..but there was quite a bit of smoke when iw as feeding it through the brake booster...

i plan on using it again prob in 10,000 miles..or right before my emissions test...

and perhape thinkins about using deep creep...same thing as the combustion cleaner...spray it into the IM..does same deal

yeah they actually offered me some of that stuff you put in your oil to "restore lost horses" but i didn't see a reason to.

yeah i figured id just follow the directions..didint od it for the horses..just read so much about it..n got peer pressured into all the good stuf fi ehard about it...adn well..its just that good stuff..i mean my exhaust tip had a thick layer of carbon on it..even after wiping it with my finger..there was still more left

if you have a rough idle, try cleaning the tb with tb cleaner...

in my experience, it's usually what causes a rough idle in my friends' cars.

i've never tried that seafoam stuff...i keep hearing good results though...maybe i should give it a try on my mini-me...

seafoam rocks. makes tons of cool white smoke.

I don't want to be a naysayer, but I soaked my valves in seafoam in an attempt to loosen up some of the crap that was stuck on them, and it didn't do anything. Literally nothing.

Granted, it may be completely different when the engine is running - but with half of the exhaust valves sitting in a bottle of seafoam for a few nights did nothing.

Best bang for the buck to remove carbon from my experience? STP Throttle Body Cleaner. The shit took carbon off like it was on steroids.

Seafoam works in conjunction with heat.
