I bought some no name springs on ebay a while back but my problem now are shocks. the ride is pretty bouncy and unsafe feeling. when i drive i can feel a slight slipping of the whole suspension like the tires wont stay on the road. like when i jack up the car i can move the tires up and down freely minus one. one is still a little stiff. so i bought some KYB GR2's was this a good choice? i'm not that lowered considering my tires have some clearence issues since they're 205/55/15's. i also have a problem with bottoming out on some dips. will new shocks solve this? i also ordered both strut and tie bars. my car has 200K+ miles on the frame so i'm assuming the shocks are original.

Sounds like you went lower than you where meaning to and got crappy springs.
I would get yourself a set of Tien S. Springs 1 1/2" drop springs sounds like your sitting at about 2 1/2 down. I know my Saturn on 2" was plenty low enough and it was pretty bouncy on stock struts. My honda isn't lowered yet though. Im going with the KYB AGX and Tien s. or Eibach pro springs. If it's a daily driver there is such a thing as too low.

i was planing on changing out the springs sooner or later most likely for the Tein S. but that's after i get the rear disk conversion and take care of some other more important things... as long as the shocks are a good idea i can change the springs whenever.

first mistake, but...

the good one (the stiff damnper) is what is causing the suspension to feel more unsafe then just a blown dampners.

so i bought some KYB GR2's was this a good choice?

better then stock new dampner, yeah they were a good buget decision. could have done better, but never the less better then what you had.

will new shocks solve this?

for most of the small dips in the road, yes. but once you upgrade to better rate springs, the last bit of spongy feeling in the suspension should go away.

I'd go eibach instead of the Tien s-techs. I've heard they are softer than the eibach and most people seem unsatisfied with them. *shrug*

KYB GR2s are good oem replacements. It's better than buying a new shocks from honda, but it's not gonna be the best if you want uber-handling, or are building for the track.

+1, just did not want to say anything. or this might turn into :
tiens vs. all other spring makers

lol, thats unavoidable I think. People either think they are great, or softer than my ex's left boob. Like a pillow. :TU:

That is exactly what I have sitting in my room. When I get it attached to my car, I'll let you know how it is.

the only difference i saw between the t "GR2 and agx" were taht the AGX's are adjustable, i didn't think it was worth the extra money. I just want to be able to handle better in my daily driving through canyon roads and feel safe. and be able to stop when about to rear-end someone instead of sliding into the back of someone. but that's another story, rear disk conversion here i come...

it would have been worth the money.

I just want to be able to handle better in my daily driving through canyon roads and feel safe.

for the most part, at a small drop (~1.5 in.), the GR2's will be fine. but any lower then that you would have wanted the agx's, just so you could stiffen them up a little more for the differences in spring rates from stock to drop.

and be able to stop when about to rear-end someone instead of sliding into the back of someone. but that's another story, rear disk conversion here i come...

rear disk is over rated, IMHO. and yes i have converted to discs all the way around, slotted with hawk pads (more for show then to slow).

H&R or Eibach. I looked at the KYB shocks, but compared to Tokicos or Bilstein's, they just don't add up. Tokico is good with customer service, because even though you are ordering a new set of shocks for your springs, manufacturers of the struts have certain minimum standards for ride height. If you blow a shock because your springs are too short, Tokico will send you a new one under warranty. If you use a shock that is longer, it gets hot, travels too far and rests too far up in it's travel when the suspension isn't moving. I compared the AGXs to Tokico Blues and found that I like the Tokico non-adjustable better than the AGX. I had the option to run either one and I ended up with my Tokicos.

Just got and installed the shocks. much better. 2 of the old shocks when depressed would stay that way the other 2 were way too soft. how would i find out how much of a drop i have where do you offically measure from? and what's the stock ride height?
