Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've been reading up as much as possible. Right now I own a D16a6 w/ 205k miles on it in a 90 Civic EX, and I'm looking to make it a "quick" car, possibly running 15's. Right now, here is what's already on it, and what I plan on doing in the next couple of months:
Short Ram Intake (Already there)
Cat-back exhaust (2.25" already there)
Megan Racing Header
Hi-flow cat
Delta 272 Reground Camshaft
D16Z6 Intake Manifold
B-Series Throttle Body
What kind of gains can I expect with a setup like this? Any suggestions as to what else I should do? (I'm trying to keep the build to under $400, because I'm a poor high-school student). Thanks for your input.

I'd say with a good intake/header/exhaust and a stg 2 cam you'd be in the 15's. That is if your Sedan is a 5spd. If so, you may look into a 4th gen Si tranny as well. It will help you out a little on take off. Good luck with it. Post some pics!!!

Yup, my Sedan is a 5 speed, and afaik, the EX tranny is the same as the Si.....If not let me know, I'll look into a used one if it'll make a big difference. I'm hoping to get at least 15's with this set up, possibly break into 14's, but I don't know if that will happen without new rods/pistons, and I don't have the time/know-how to do that anyways.

also, one more question. is replacing the valvetrain necessary for the delta cam? A new valvetrain doesn't exactly fit into the budget, but i've had a couple people tell me it might be a really good idea to replace it since mine has 205k miles on it.

with the 272 cam u will b fine with a relash and such, i would atleast get new OEM springs from maybe a blown head or someone cheap... just cause those r a good hunk of miles... my older civic had the 282 regrind with new valve springs, like brand new and were fine, i reved to 8k on the D16a6 head, well actually D16a6/D15b2/and D15b7 head all in one since they r the same casting lol...

so does anyone know I can get a new/slightly used set of valve springs and/or retainers for cheap? I don't have a whole lot of money, and I'm looking to go as cheap as possible, with at least oem specs.
