stock clutch sometimes it slips sometimes it grips
gets driven pretty hard

no problems aside from clutch slippage issues. i bet i can get 10k more out of this setup easily if i get it tuned. problem is it might be yanked out in the next few weeks.

I should mention I started with it at 210 across on the compression, it's still above 205 across. I am also using a 2.5" exhaust with a high flow cat. It has recently (7/2006) passed Northern Virginia emissions.

yup, but none that are good enough to show what these numbers are capable of.
i made 218whp and a best of 14.1 @ 101mph last year. but didnt get my LSD and suspension done until earier this year.

198K miles, I tuned with Turboedit data logging without a WB.
Problems: blows oil, but leaked oil before, clutch can't hold power peak..
Runs great though...

mine was super charged before I went turbo. The super charger was on for 3 years or so and the turbo has been on for almost a year. So that should put me around 48,000 or so, give or take a little. Been very reliable as a dd.

I'm reposting my setup because i finally got the shit installed right.

ENGINE: JDM D15b vtec-e

MILEAGE: Car: 156xxx, motor: 4k since new (stock) pistons

MILES SINCE BOOSTED: about 500

PSI: 9 PSI

TURBO: AiResearch T3 .42/.48

DRIVING STYLE: since the turbo has been in, ive been tuning it... and it has taking a beating like crazy... let me clarify the beating... while tuning, it endured a constant flooring it then slowing down, flooring it then slowing down... 4th gear has officially been topped out, and the car has been the fastest its ever been in 5th gear (140 mph, then i was too scared to go any faster... vs sti)

MANAGEMENT: Crome pro, plx wideband, ostrich

HP: havent calced yet, but at 11.5:1 afr and 9 psi and 6k rpms, crome said my injectors duty cycle was at 110% (dunno how this is possible) on 390cc injectors

ENGINE MODS: turbo... thats it... (besides replacing pistons and honing walls)

MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH CURRENT SETUP: within the past hour or two, my vtec has been acting up.

and heres a little racing story i would like to add... on the hwy yesterday, i was driving down to school, cruzing about 110 mph, and a car came flying up behind me, so i slowed down to 80... turns out its an sti, and he pulled up next to me, so i dropped it in 3rd, and we raced till 140, he had about 5 car lengths on me at 140... i was like shiiiiiittt... i dunno, maybe he is an idiot and doesnt know how to drive, but i would have thought he would have had way more on me by then...
btw, z6 engine build is in progress and will hopefully be swapped over spring break... looking forward to 300+ hp

MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH CURRENT SETUP: NOT TUNED. NOT TUNED. NOT TUNED. Oil feed line shit the bed, was a major pain to replace I had to remove the IM. Mechanical oil pressure gauge also shit the bed and started dripping oil in the car. Oil pressure was too high at the feed so I used a pressure regulator from Stealthmode I believe to fix that. Turbo still has zero shaft play to my amazement. Need to weld hot side IC piping (ghetto coupler job) and have hole in downpipe welded.

OTHERWISE this car has actually proved remarkably reliable.

Up until the day the low lifers took my car from my drive way, the thing ran like it came from the factory turbocharged. Not a drop of oil, and tons of fun to drive. It was my first HM turbo with a HF manifold and a new tiny ihi turbo that spooled at 2200 RPM. Redoing turbo set up with a T3 42/48 cast manifold and OBD1 ECU.

I have the Mini Me set up on a d15b7 along with the y8 head gasket arp head "studs" not bolts. Apexi 60 mm complete exhaust. Chipped vtec ecu. The motor is in fair shape, how many pounds of boost can I safely get away with and what kind of numbers would i be looking at as far as hp. I know I will need to step up my injectors. Any other tunning ideas I might require?

what did you do to make it work on your engine? i'm assumimg the mani bolted right up fine. how bout the fitment of the intercooler and such in the front bumper? everything work ok there?

i think most people just use the turbo they can get there hands on.... being an un turboed engine to begine with we have to piece together the setup ourselves. that would be why everyone ends up with different turbos and different turbo setups. and there are alot of d's using bigger turbos then most (most use t28 - t3)

Major Problems:hooking up, and trying not to bind my axles, i also had some lag in the beginning but that went away after the dyno tunning.

I drove that one into a grave and i dont mean the engine because my little brother has the motor now with the same turbo and he's pumping way more boost i think now he's at about 17 but with 750cc injectors and he's not driving it like i was!

new project is a b20 but i love my d's!

HP: unsure until 2 weeks
Engine Mods: Vitara 8:5:1 pistons,SRM H beam rods, ACL bearings/thrust washers,notched out cylidner wall,JGE valve springs, Titanium Retainers.Block Gaurd.

Turbo: T3 Super 60 .42/.48
Driving Style:Raced over 100times at track/street and mountain driving, at least redline everytime I drive
Management: Crome Pro
Hp: 251whp 231tq
Engine mods: ARP Headstuds, Cometic Headgasket, Wiseco Pistons, Eagle Rods, ACL Bearings, supertech valvetrain, carbing catch can

no problems. dynotuned, minor oil leak from the turbo seals.. due to lack of oil restrictor i suppose. Besides that, daily beaten racing M3s :)

Not anymore that thing is seized up. Read my pissed off post in pnb. BTW I guess I should update the reliability eh? So...69k miles, 17psi daily lugging an extra 930 lbs of stereo, it FINALLY gave up.

It doesn't look like many people at all build non vtec heads for boost. I have an a6 head sitting in my garage and was planning on getting it ported and a cam, but I havn't seen a build on here with this setup. Are there issues with building a non vtec head or does everyone just like vtec?
