can u use a d16y8 clutch with d16z6 tranny??

i got a y8 motor and it had y8 tranny and clutch on it.
but the tranny is bad so i put on a z6 and left the clutch on..
will the z6 tranny work now. it ligns up and stuff but can it work?

90-00 are the same setups.
