Im thinkin of picking up a zc tranny from hmotors while im home in cali for a few weeks. How hard is it to swap gears? Is there any replaceable items i'll need ahead of time? The car is my ride home, so i dont want to find out i need to order soem stupid part or something half way through..

can i still use my 88Ssi input shaft so i dont have to change clutches? etc.

Thanks in advance :D

you'll need shims, and won't know which ones until your almost done, takes a while to get them from Honda.

If you swap ZC 3-4 into an Si, you need to shim??

Are all the cable trannies the same? if so, why dont you just put a 4.25 into the zc tranny. That would be a better tranny, less work, and no shims.
I can sell you a 4.25 FD if you need one.
actually, are the axles holes different?

yea it uses differnt axles, and considering i just bought a new one for the drivers side i dont really want to buy new ones to get the tranny to work

if the axle holes on the tranny are different, odds are you'd need new hubs on the wheel side of things, to fit the new axles, too

well, if your interested, I have a zc 1, 2, and 4 along with both shafts, and a 4.25, and all the hydro Si gears, diffs etc. I'm building my own, and i have a few trannies laying around waiting for me to make my badass tranny.

ZC tranny, add 5g OEM Diff ($25) new axle seals ($16) and change the 5th gear to .771 or .702 ($25) then drop in S1 4.25 FD ($40), then labor.

Total bill was $220

Swapping ZC 3-4 onto 5g shafts, you'll likely need a thinner shim. 4g gears tend to be .002-.004 wider, and swapping two of them your gonna bind the thrust washer on the mainshaft.
