B1 vs. B2 starter?

I just installed a starter from a D15B1(4-spd) because my old starter is blown(from a D15B2). Anyways, I can hear the starter spinning like crazy, but the motor doesn't crank. Are the starters different or is the solenoid just out?

they are the same i have had to do this and it worked fine for me. the only diff between the 4 speed and the 5 speed are the internal parts of the tranny no 5th. good luck get a boush starter i love mine.

90-91 starter on a 88-89 flywheel?

they're both 88. You think flywheel has something to do with it? It sounds like the teeth aren't engaging, because you can hear the starter motor spinning.
