Did you remove the dust shield?
If not that would hold it I think.

Is the transmission hanging or is it supported, are you taking it off level?
If you try to take it off on an angle she may bind up on you.

Make sure you have all the bolts out, I know I know but double check it's easy to forget one. is it stuck around the dowels? that has been a problem for me on a few tranny's but if you have it seperated 1/2 an inch the dowels are not likely to be the problem.

I've fought with some stubborn tranny's in my life, never had much of a problem with the Hondas, but you may have one there.

On the bottom of the trans, next to the oil pan is a dust cover. 4 bolts and it's off. Sounds like that's what's holding it together.

_CXhatch_
11-17-2006, 08:40 PM
ill go check that

im not certain but there is a bolt going in from the engine side above the opening for the driverside transaxle ,but if it was that one you probably won't get it as far as you did.

If you mean left as in your standing at your passengers fender and looking in on the engine, then you most likely forgot the rear bolt that is mentioned above. Have a look, and don't pry anymore or you'll break your case or bend something, You should take the dust cover right off the car. you don't have to but I always think it's a nice idea, not something you wanna bend and have it hitting your flywheel. by nipple thingys I'm assuming you mean the dowels. and if you have no gap at all on the left/rear of the transmission than I think you have that rear bolt that bolts into the tranny(as in the threads are in the case) so you will have to go underneath the car and lay about underneath your oil filter and look towards the tranny and up, you should see the bolt.

Good Luck

19mm head bolt below the starter from passenger side, or the 17mm head bolt from the block into the tranny, near the rear T-bracket......

yup i forgot that one time..

also i have had a problem once.. trying to get the tranny off.. and i know i had every single bolt out.. we pryed for 3 hours.. finally it came off.. there was no borken anything no extra bolts or anything..

put the new trans on and got down the street.. then the clutch broke..

or shall i say all the teeth in the clutch disc that slide on the input shaft were GONE.. if you pry your tranny off.. i would definately suggest putting a new clutch disc in or this might happen to you

remove the bracket in pic 2 that joins to trans and engine!

also remove that black shield it's not letting the trans slid off cause it's catching on the flywheel!

bassist1088
11-23-2006, 06:06 PM
the dust cover will hold it on there because there is two bolts on the tranny and then the other two are bolted on to your oil pan thus holding the block to the engine but i would think that that would have been something very obvious to notice, so its prolly not that, and check and make sure that the back bolt in the tranny is out it goes in from the drivers side so its easy to miss or not even see, just a thought

_CXhatch_
11-23-2006, 08:03 PM
were these the 2 things u were talking abotu cuz i just took them off and it still wont budge

_CXhatch_
11-23-2006, 08:06 PM
it wont let me put the other one on but it is just the bracket that holds the dust cover on

bassist1088
11-25-2006, 08:22 AM
yeh that is the dust cover so i know that that isnt holding it on, and make sure the speedometer cable has been removed and all the wires for the back up lights, not sure that that is what is holding you to the block but just a reminder

JaredKaragen
11-25-2006, 02:06 PM
if it's a manual tranny... the rear motor mount/bracket needs to come out.. it's bolted to the tranny and motor.

for safety sake... make sure the shift linkage is dis-connected.

Lude-icious!
11-25-2006, 02:22 PM
ummmm, I vote dust cover aswell...it needs to be completely off...and if your mounts and bolts and all linkages (including shifter linkages on the back or on top...depends of you have cable or hydraulic clutch) it probably just needs a good smackin...

Did this get solved yet, or what?

11-28-2006, 01:52 PM
Make sure u remove the 3 bolts on the rear mount. I think there's 2 on the driver side 19mm and 1 on the passenger side 17mm. To get to the 2 on the driver side it'll be better to get to them from under the car.

Dont forget to take off your shiftlinkage either unbolt the linkage 12mm 2 bolts and take off shift knob.

Or take out the bitch pin....sometimes that could take awhile lol.
