Alright, a couple of months back I was looking for a tranny for my d15b auto-manual swap in my Civic. I found a good deal on a trans that was supposedly out of a JDM Ex. Upon recieving the transmission, I checked the fill plug area to figure out what model it came out of. It was stamped P20 / A000 indicating CD/DX/LX/VX. He swore it was an Ex trans, although rightfully it doesn't matter to me; I'm just happy to be rid of the auto. One thing I did notice is a black ink stamp on the top of the case "C5B". I haven't been able to find a list of what the ink stamps imply, but I was wondering if anyone knew what it meant. I haven't quite got the car ready yet, and I was just trying to figure this out so I know what to expect when I start going through the gears. I hope it's not a CX/VX tranny. Anyone know how to figure out what it came off of by the serial number on the case? Thanks alot.

serial number is useless.........

C5B should be a DX, aleast the one I have laying in the way is stamped that way.

AFAIK there is no list of the ink stamps

I just made the mistake of buying the p20/a0000. It has VERY long gears. I think my first gear almost goes to 60 or maybe MORE! Sucks, I was trying to upgrade from a dx tranny to a EX and i got longer gears than my dx had...:(
