can you swap a 92-95 Civic hydro tranny into a '85 CRX Si cable if you have all the parts?
ok... my knowledge of transmissions consists of being able to pull one, change the clutch, have the flywheel turned, and be back on the road the same day. That said....
My nephew has given me his '85 CRX Si because the tranny is shot to hell and he can't afford to fix it. I told him a coupla years ago I had first dibs when he was ready to get rid of it. Since it "...doesn't run..." he's letting me have it.
I have 2 VX trannys and a DX sitting in my dad's shop. I also have a CX shell.
Is it possible to mount any of the spare trannys to the Si motor (it has the MPI motor) and swap it over to hydro from cable with the assorted parts from the CX donor?
*edit: my concern is the tranny matching the axles & motor...not the know how
