so i did the input shaft bearing replace. got the tranny back in, and now my shifter inside the car only goes front and back as if it were an auto. does any one have any clue as to why this would be....?

You tighten down the shift interlock bolt before locking in the countershaft lock ring.......

COMPLETE TEARDOWN is needed.......

BOOOO, MAN THAT SUCKS ......got the whole thing all the way back in.....
thank you, that is what i needed to know. i had a feeling it was some thing in that area. i had trouble figuring out what the steps were. every time i tightend that bolt all the way down either the main and counter shafts wouldnt turn or the shifter rod wouldnt move outward and inward any more...... if any of that makes any sence.

so what your saying is that i needed to put the back half of the case together.....before i tighten the guide bolt? it seemed like the guide bolt was bottoming out on the shaft arm.....arg what ever your the guru, ill take your word for it.

anything else that you might be able to mention about that whole process would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again for your time and knowledge sir transzex.

the countershaft needs locked into the clip, interlock bolt is LAST!!!!!!

put the cases together, flip the tranny over and hear the click, visually look that clip in locked in......then install 30mm access plug and interlock bolt.

now, getting that cross shaft out is fun, and you'll need anouther shift arm. I should have plenty of spares, just cover shipping ($5) and I can send out the parts, I'll even include a spare ball incase you loose it when it shoots for the ceiling (thats a warning!)

I've done the same thing, twice! Bauley didn't listen, where I got the pic of the damaged piece.

Practice makes perfect, I'm still practicing.
