Once in a while, my ECU (with a new PGMFI NA ROM) will go into limp mode, flash the CEL and the LED convulsively, the car will stumble and backfire, but does not stall, i can hear the fuel and main relays clicking very rapidly. i can continue driving and aftera few seconds it stops, sometimes with a residual code 15 and 16, but most of the time with no ill effects at all.
now i suspect that a short somewhere in the harness might be causing that, but i do not count out a rouge routine that could be causing that.
any ideas?

Hrm, I haven't had any of my users have that issue before.
Which ROM, and what version of TurboEDIT are you running?
TurboEDIT Try9, and PGMFI Stable 1.0 are the current public versions.

check/clean/tighten the ground on the thermostat housing. That may be your problem as it grounds the fuel pump/ main relay and will click like that if they lose ground. if it's not the actual ring terminal on the housing try doing a continuity test on the ground wires to the relays while wiggiling the harness.
