oK i need some help with this decision... I found a good deal on both motors but stuck between the two. Intially i was wanting the d15b but found out that the zc could be had for the same price and now i dont know what to do... the motor will be boosted, whichever i decide to use. i have a 92 civic cx hatch with stock motor. The help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks...

Well, the ZC pistons will be easier to come by.. just because of the possibility of melting a piston down the road....
Forged pistons for a D15B would cos around 390-450.. so it isn't too bad of a price to have them made.

ZC's love boost from what i'm told... but I think they were talkin about the DOHC model.

but if you are looking for top-end power... I would say go with the D15B... it has way more rev potential than the ZC.

Personally: I got a D15B and I wouldn't trade it for another.

I would go with the d15b they love boost just as much as the zc. Also your vehicle is allready obd1 so it's a really easy swap too. The top end of the d15b is freaking badass. D15b all the way.

w3rd. i didnt liek the top end on my zc even with turbo. it was fast but it was just missing some kick. now the zc trans is another story. best d trans IMO. i would say get the zc if you can get the tranny w it. if not get the d15b, remember thats a newer engine too(less miles).

Check this out:

I am on a business trip from San Jose to almost San Diego.

the whole way down (over the grapevine even) I recorded 33Mpg...

on the way back, I got 303 miles on 7.5 gallons... ~40.4MPG! While doing a constant 90-110Mph.

beat that!

Check out the D15B + TT RODS + Vitara's thread in the forced induction section. D15B plus 25+ psi, oh noes hold on to your pants.

Nice numbers =P but were you driving at 100+Mph 90% of the time? that's the part that bedazzled me!

You can't beat that with a 30 foot pole! There are alternatives for hard-core forged setups that will perform! I say we try to turn EVERYONE onto using a D15B.... cause the D15B ownz ur shit!!!!

cx has the 1 wire o2 sensor just like the jdm d15b has so no wiring mod needed just plug and play

I thought the dohc zc was more aggressive than the d15b?
What makes the d15b more favorable over the zc (stock vs stock)?

I managed to get ~45mpg from my 90 Accord(120miles, under 2 gallons); speed was ~80-90mph, following an SUV the whole way. :p 3000lb car with sohc 2.2l engine. (MSD ignition minus box/advanced timing and intake are the only mods).

I guess considering the direction I was heading is sort of down-hill helped(going from Greensboro to Raleigh)
