ok so here the deal my buddy just got a ef civic with a zc dohc engine. it hass a spun bearing so it need a new rod and a new crank along with all ne bearing and ring i know that everything but the crank can be sohc parts.
but what i need to know is what crank can i use can it be a sohc crank or dose it have to be a ZC or A1 crank please help thanks.

Some D16A1/3 crankshafts have a 24mm crank snout others have a 22mm. there are two different size timing belt pulleys as well. Just make sure you have the right size pulleys all the way around. So what im saying if you get a 24mm crank you need to have the cam gears and tensioner setup to go with it, if you get the 22mm crank you need the stuff that goes with it.
Ive put a D16A1 24mm crank in a sohc motor before. I had to use the PT0 accord cam pulley and an a6 tensioner to make it time out correctly.

you can use any D16 crank just make sure that the crank snout diameter is the same as yours. It will either be 22 or 24mm.

Although I've yet to confirm the 96-00 cranks useable in the older blocks.....

this is good to know cuse i got a A6 crank around any idea what else ill need timeing gear and what not.
