Hey allz,
i have a 98 civic ex, d16y8 running 10.0 comp with obd 2 to 1 on a p72 ecu. I'm running crome base map with boost option. My problem is that it run and idle fine untill i push it..taking it to 7k-7.5k rpm then i get a check light and it wont rev pass 6k. As soon as i turn off the engine the check light goes off and ican rev it to 7k again..its weird.. Plz help me out.
I try running the stock ecu and it rev to 7k all day long..no problem at all..i try to use the diag jump but as soon as i turn off the engine the cel light goes off too, so i cant check the problem code at all..
many thanks,
gao

you should try and find a obd 2 scanner and take it in the car with you and have a friend operate it when the check engine light comes on it willl tell you the specific malfunction. I have had that happen before when vtec engaged to early

damm your right i move the vtec down so when i shift at 7k i wouldnt fall off vtec..
i'll move it back to 5.5k and see how that do.
many thanks

OBD 1 scanner sorry !
meh ... just jump the service connector and read the cel's
all you do is put a paper clip or a piece of wire in the connector.. its by the ecu and watch your cel flash... 1 long is 10 1 short is 1.. so if you get 2 long and 1 short its code 21... there is usually a 2 second pause between codes

Yeah you should be able to jump it when the light comes on before you shut off the engine

i usually check my cel's if they show up with the engine on just incase it doesnt save it.. but usually the ecu will remember the cel in its memory even if it doesnt come back on.. i used to get a random 22 ( vtec pressure switch ) and it wouldnt always comeon but it was still in the ecu's memory...

hey i was looking online and it said that 2 things can cause this problem..not enough oil..as i just did an oil change but i use 4qt only.. and the vtec crossover is set too low..hehe..
so i'm going to top off my oil today and change my crossover to 5k
i'll let u guys know what happen

you got it replace that pressure valve and bump up the crossover top off the oil and you should be set If it still persists V-tec crossover is too low! hehe good luck
