who cares about the time? j/k. what numbers is it putting down? now thats a question we can live with. :)

not to get all technical on yalls ass, but wouldnt FI be considered adding displacement? I mean the turbo provides pressurized air, and the injectors more fuel, making the engine burn a greater volume of the mix, or displacing more.

well after some thinking, your not really increasing displacement because your not increasing the size of the cylinders and pistons. its just forcing more air and fuel in which is why its called "forced induction."

spool'nsol
11-05-2006, 08:07 PM
yeah, but at the same time you are physically increasing your motors displacement. It is just displacing more than its natural atmospheric limits

no your just thinking too hard about an easy question. don't worry I do it all the time.

pressure = displacement....

if motor a) makes more power than motor b) it is displacing more air......
more air equals more power.....

i see what you're saying. the volume stays constant (the cylinder) but the pressure is definately increased. if you took the air inside the pressurized cylinder...and "took it out" and put it in a place where the pressure would reduce to a nonFI pressure, the volume would definately be bigger.

our cars displace 1.5, 1.6 liters... yes under boost conditions... would could easily be shoving in 3 Liters worth of fuel/air and combusting that.

if your honda under boost makes more power that an ls1 5./7 liter it is displacing more air than the ls1 motor so in essence yes:TU:
