Hey just curious, how many of you folks out there wired vtec like this?
Following the FAQ i pinned the pressure solenoid (single green/yellow wire)to the top hole on the shock tower plug and then i pinned the the top wire from the green pressure switch to the bottom hole on shock tower plug. Then the remianing wire on the green pressure switch was tied into a ground.
That make sense?? Lemme hear some input. :)

I did it like this. Works like a charm. Don't remember the exact colors for the wires, but it should be correct.

rpm switch, direct to solenoid.....:TU:
rpm switch, direct to solenoid.....:TU:
IMO not as good as the factory way...

as long as the ecu is tuned, doesnt really matter.....

Dam thats easy to do. I have an EK so i was able to get the plugs and wires with pins from a donor harness and ran them direct to the ecu.

I used a Y8 harness in my DX hatch and wired in the 2nd O2 sensor directly to the ECU.

i basicly did the same shyt but i did not just any plug. i just solder and strink wrap it.

that is the correct way to do it.. dont use an rpm switch or any crap like that.. ud be lean in vtec...
my car 92cx hatchie came with vtec prewired in the ecu harness.. all i had to do was buy a ex engine harness and bam plug n play.. i love older eh's

I totally don't agree with the RPM switch method or the other statement.
It's not brain surgery, nor is it expensive to run 2 wires from the ECU to the Vtec solenoid.
RPM switches are expensive and time consuming compared to just regularly wiring vtec. If you're talking about using an RPM switch instead of buying a Vtec ECU, then, Yes, it would be cheaper but still you were talking about having the non-vtec ECU properly tuned which requires paying to have the ECU socketed to be tuned and then having it tuned to do so.
At this point you have around $50 or so for an RPM switch (plus whatever the pills for the switch cost), at least $65 for getting the ECU socketed. And then whatever rate the tuner charges which would at least be $50 but probably more. Bare minimum, you've got $165 invested when you could have spent $100-$125 for a P28 and plugged in an ECU and hooked up a few wires.
Back on Topic, Yes I've seen Vtec wired the way shown. Great, Factory, Clean...

I used this one...and just ran extra wires directly to the ecu...Im ill driving an EK

I said no because I pretty much just swapped in the complete harness(the one that connects to the engine harness and ECU) from a I think 93 EX.
