got a noise violation on my exhaust a week or 2 ago.. guy gave me a written warning and i have to go to the DMV to get it tested. i was just wondering what i should look out for....

i plan on switching my exhaust back to stock (if i can find the parts in time) because i'm running Cat-less right now and i'm pretty sure it'd fail the decibel test anyways. are they gonna nail me on my intake too? or any other shit?

umm, if you throw your stock exhaust back on, you should be fine. they won't bother you about your intake, but maybe your header, if you have one. they might lose their mind over the cat too. that should be about it. if anything, see about running a silencer if you can't find your stock stuff, that'll kill a portion of the noise and quite possibly keep you in the clear.

yeah, by "changing back to stock" i meant from the head to the bumper.

Good luck Dude. Getting the stock parts back on shoukd do it. Here it's "officer's discretion" no test required. Not that I've ever talked to anyone that's been pulled for noise.

i wouldn't worry much about your header. just the cat on back with the stock stuff should lower the noise.

thanks dudes. i just realized it's THIS week. i better get moving.

another question: if shit doesn't pull through and they do give me a ticket... is it gonna show up on my insurance?

I dont think its considered a "moving violation" so i dont think it will show up on your insurance.

I love living in michigan. I'm running a 3" open downpipe and have never gotten anything but a glare from the local cops...:TU:

Friend of mine got pulled over for noise right before his Flowmaster rusted through in SW Michigan. He talked to the officer's supervisor and asked if he could get in trouble for that, and the guy just laughed and said there was nothing they could do about that exhaust. He hasn't got pulled over since and it has another flowmaster on there.

Only reason I can run a dynomax is cuz I live in good ol' Michigan!
