I have posted this same post on a few different boards already but I figure why not try the new d-series.org board, so if you've already read it I apologize...

Hello, I am a new member to the site. I have had my car for about 2 years now and have been doing things to it all along. I have just recently got into auto crossing my daily driver and am looking for the best add-ons to shave some time off of my runs. Thank you in advance for any imput!
Currently:
Iceman Cold Air Intake
5-Zigen Cat Back Exhaust
Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks
Tokico Springs
Suspension Techniques Front and Rear Sway
Front and Rear Upper Strut Tower Bars
17" x 7" ADR RS Limited Concept Pro Wheels (they ARE light for 17's - 18lbs and 18lbs tires)
PowerSlot Rotors w/ Hawk HPS pads
Short Shifter w/ Integra LS Shift Knob
Custom Civic Front Badge
Carbon Fiber Front Lip (Type-R style)
CTR Headlights
Black Chrome Altezza style taillights.

I will buy some 15 X 7's for next season (9.92 lbs per wheel w/ 22.6lb tires).

What to buy next:
As you can see it's pretty much a Virgin under the hood. And I am open to all ideas however I would like to remain N/A and am against NOS. The clutch has started to become tired and I am currently considering a Centerforce Stage 2 Clutch w/ Clutch Master 9lb fly wheel. Also, I am looking at AEM accessory pulleys (NO UNDERDRIVE I saw the photos). A DC Header/Bisimoto w/ after market Cat. Also, a cam although I have no idea which to buy and where to get it. Over all I would like to get an additional 30-40 hp to the wheels. Please give me any advice on what I am looking to buy or any additional items to purchase. Budget is approx. $4000. Open to all engine set-ups NA.

Thanks again!!!

If your going to autocross, you better first decide what class your going to to run in. The class rules will dictate what mods you can do.

Class is not that important. If I can gain 30-40 WHP I feel that I would become more competitive and it will put me in the SM class which pretty much allows all modifications from what I have read.

If you're not worried about class, throw on a Y8 head, add a good cam and cam gear, your header, then tune. You should be able to hit your power goal with some luck.

i have a spare race cat, from powercore, it is a very nice setup, straight through, it is also brand new. the advertised power gain is 9-12 hp, if you are interested, email me, @ irspartacus@hotmail.com

ported head, cam, pistons and y8 or sk2 or edelbrock intake manifold. i would think that u could easily make an xtra 30-40 hp with tuning.

So let me get this right...

I want a skunk2 intake manifold OR a Y8 automatic (is this right?) intake manifold. Then I want to bolt on a b16 throttle body which is a 60 mm throttle body, HOWEVER, my friend has bought a B20 engine (getting ready for a TURBO Frankenstien (crazy bastard)) could I just use his b20 throttle body which is also a 60 mm T/B. Also, I want to port match the ITM and the TB.

My friend (same guy) also has a D16Z6 sitting in his garage from when he swapped in his Integra LS Turbo set-up (Who is now going to work on the Frankeinstein Turbo over the winter). Can I pilfer any parts from that engine and tranny (D16Z6). I think that the pistons are 12:1 instead of my 12.6:1's would that be worth swapping out (if I even can???). Or should I not waste my time...

ALSO, my other friends girlfriend ... has a D16Y8 automatic ... IS IT POSSIBLE to swap out her ITM with my ITM and throttle body and Iceman cooled air intake.

Ok, enough questions asked ...

Any other thoughts let me know...

:wtf: that is BS.. I know people with aftermarket race cats and they didnt even get an extra 3 HP... there is no way to get 9 to 12 out of one

You should use the Y8 Auto manifold on your motor, or the skunk2. You can swap out the intake mani from your other friends gf D16y8 auto, and she can use yours. The throttle bodies are the same thing, except for the throttle pulley. So use the one from the Y8 automatic.

I agree with a few horsepower maybe, but 9 to 12 is a little Crazy! [/b]

I may be new to the D-series tuning research area, but I'm not a F#ckin idiot. 9-12 hp from a race cat IS a LITTLE excessive. Seriously, I have been "intelligently" tuning cars for a few years now my friends and I do a lot of research before we embark on a new project. I am currently researching the D16 project for myself, simply because no one in my area has done it. On a straight 3" Test pipe on my brother-in-laws well built 95 Mitsu. GSX was dynoed to add 3.4 Whp and around 4.9 HP at the crank. So I might expect around 3 HP be it at the crank or wheel for an aftermarket Cat. I intending on purchasing one while I am doing everything in March but not till then.

No hard feelings but everyone knows that what the ad says it will add in horsepower is typically False. I am searching for quality proven information.

Experience here...

I didn't see more than a 2-3whp difference between my stock cat, Random Tech cat, or a test pipe on my B20/VTEC. The differences between them could have easily been attributed to standard error and variation. I tested all three setups on the dyno with no other mods.

I don't have any dyno sheets to show it though... :(

Does the intake manifold from the y8 have to be from an Auto. or can it come off of a Manu.? Also, will the Throttle body from a B20 (CR-V) work when I port match them?

Thanks.

The intake mani can be from a manual, just haev to plug up the two holes for the IACV, no big deal. Either get a couple of short bolts, or fill them in with some liquid weld or something similar.

The B20 throttle body should fit fine. You will have to port match it yes, but it has the IACV right on it, and I believe it is a three-wire to match your harness.

What does IACV stand for and what is the purpose of it. Does it mater if I fill it with liquid weld? I suspect it wouldn't harm anything by the way you are talking.

Thanks.

95CivicDxVTEC, civic4ges, and MAChiz24 unfortunately you three never bothered to learn to read, if you had, you would have noticed that my previous post said that "the advertised power gain is 9-12 hp". i would hope that you all know what advertised means. i am not trying to say that you actually get 9-12 horse, but you do gain a nice kick, especially in the higher rpms.

the iac (idle air control) controls the idle.

My apologizes DY8.

Sohc_boy thank you.

As of current:
I am intending to buy a Intake Manifold from a Y8 and put a T/B from a B20 on it. Are there any problems from doing this?

Shouldnt be any problems! You might have to fab a new throttle cable...someone back me up on this? I have a b18c TB sitting in my room....not on my car where it belongs! Make sure you port-match the intake manifold, or you wont notice as much of a difference in throttle response.
