hi was wondering if anyone has any experience with vecco turbo kits..good/ bad...was considering ssautochrome but hear ALOT of negative about them..personally have their header and catback on my car with no quality issues but can't ignore everything i have heard about their turbo kits... not into piecing together a homemade kit, which is why my other option is the jackson racing supercharger... car is my daily driver and don't want it to be a testbed

never heard of that company. piece together a turbo kit, you will be much happier. jrsc are alright, i had one and i am far happier with my turbo set up.

vecco??? i would stay away from those places, the reason y ther are chearper is b/c they use substadard materials, and construction methods

not really cheap...almost $2000 shipped for kit not interested in pieceing together a kit as already stated ... want a kit designed for my car and my engine by a company that has already done all the r& d already... thus far have only found the vecco turbo kit and the jackson supercharger listed to fit a 1991 crx...vecco is suppose to include a turbonetics turbo (haven't confirmed that yet through turbonetics) if so wouldn't consider kit substandard

Just use the `92-`95 Edelbrock kit, or the Greddy kit if you don't want to build your own.

vecco looks just like the sschrome kit, just ~$1495 more (well the sschrome doesn't have oil lines).

vecco is on HT. His kit is alright from what I hear. Do a search on HT and you can read what people say about them.

I'd just make your own kit. Cheaper/better... the only thing is it will take more time getting all the parts you need.

well any modification apart from what the car comes with from factory is going to be compromising your reliability trust me even if you buy a fully built kit from Greddy, Vecco, HKS, etc etc, best thing is do your research and put together your own kit if you want buy all brand new parts

making your own kit isnt that hard, and its alot cheaper. But if i were to buy a kit for a d series it would be the edelbrock, its the nicest kit ive seen.

I just glanced over the Vecco kit, and IMO, you are waay better off doing a HMT setup because of the $$$ difference.

The Vecco kits don't have any "R&D" involved. There's no tuning parts (chipped ECU, piggyback, etc.). So with any of these kits, you'll still be stuck tuning the car yourself ("I don't want to turn my car into a test bed").

In fact, their words exactly are "No FMU Included." That's their idea of tuning and it's a horrible one. You'll still either need to get an FMU (don't) or you'll still need to source injectors and some sort of tuning hardware (AFC, chipped ECU, Hondata, etc.) From what I understand, all of the 'pre-tuned' kits out there are extremely weaksauce and overpriced. Most people end up ditching any fuel management that came with their kit and go to ECU reprogramming. (Best choice) But this means that you have to 'test and tune' your car. Sorry.

Also, even though the Vecco kit says it's built for your car, you'll be LUCKY if it's straight bolt on. (I.E. you don't have to modify any of the pipes or other shit.)
(Modifying pipes is the main part of a DIY kit these days.)

Whatever you decide, I think you need to put in a good bit more research before you commit to anything.

you dont want to do the work of a HMT kit, but you want all the benifits of a turbo car without any issues??

Maybe you shoulda just bought a car that had a turbo from the factory.

I have the vecco kit.

It's worth the money.

Quality parts, but like most anything you do to a car, it will require a bit of modification.

I've been running it for over a year now, making 228whp on a stock z6. you'll have to tune it yourself and get an exhaust made up yourself.

If I was to do it over, I'd get cheap ass parts and replace them later, but prices on all turbo components have seemed to have dropped on ebay, since I bought this kit.

The manifold is quality, everyone likes to bash the wastegate placement on it, but recently a vitara build made over 400whp on the same manifold.

I am speaking of the cast manifold, not the tubular style.

some specific things to look out for on this kit. Ask for 2.5 Downpipe piping, it comes with 2.25", depending on your chassis you may need to cut the intercooler pipes shorter. The intercooler comes with not mounting brakets on it, but it does have "blocks" to weld one too. So you'll need to fab up some aluminum brackets and get someone to weld them on. It comes with a filter, but I'd suggest making an intake for the turbo. I think one of the couplers was a little off, like 2.75", but I had some spare 2.5" silicon coupler material, and I just used the "off" one for the turbo to intake coupler (with a bit of stretching).

is there any performance compromise with most of kits being made ac/ ps compatible? have neither..
have ssautochrome improved their kits enough to make it worthwhile? alot of people say they are garbage but have their header/ catback fits/ works fine to me granted not something as complex as a turbo kit
wish to stay obd0 so if purchased greddy/ edlebrock would be paying for fuel management that wouldn't be used ..also edelbrock's intake manifold doesn't look like it fits too well in a crx chassis... have owned their domestic stuff so i know they manufacture quality products
also 1 reason i am considering the jackson supercharger is boost on turbos are not linear and am worried i would be compromising engine life (with stock internals anyways)

bah, I would not worry about that too much. A solid turbo setup with a good tune is all you need. Almost everyone I know that had the JRSC eventually went turbo. That says alot right there.
