View Full Version : P29 and boost?
If I use an D16A6 head an an thicker headgasket I would have arround 11:1 cr. In my opinion an good compression for low boost and an fast spooling turbo. Could this pistons and stock rods hold about 200whp?

It's been said many times on this forum that stock pistons and rods could hold 200-150whp - possible more with a good tune.

IMO, the power limit of stock d-series internals is 200whp. anything over that, and they always seem to pop.

i have seen people do close to 300 on stock internals, but yes, 200 would be a safe point to tune your car for. Sure you can push more than that, but building the motor would be the safest way.

I know, but Im talking about high cr and boost.

won't work, ringlands will give.

maybe if your running forged internals with an AWESOME tune.. but not stock pistons
does ringland break depend on static or dynamic cr?

didn't some guy run with itr turbo and a couple seasons later the ringlands were no good. must be the constant high compression + boost. isn't static compression just theoretical mechanical compression...how would a non-moving engine blow up ringlands

I'd go forged everything for anything over 200whp hell. until i build my next engine I'm staying at 170

eh, you break ringlands...just an excuse to go bigger :)
