I saw the other post about how they are supported 400whp. I see that these are fairly new and I don't know much about them... whats everyones overall opinion? Think I should invest in some or go another, more traditional route?

they come from the Suzuki Vitara, and they arent new at all. they have been used in the US for several years, although they were used in Puerto Rico even before that. they are still a cast aluminum piston, so some people are still skeptical, yet they continue to impress me with every setup i read about.

if you have a good tuner, go for it. IMO since they are cast, they will more prone to breakage with a less than quality tune than forged pistons will.

if i hadnt found such a great deal on my forged, id be running them too

I havent confirmed it yet but JFK78 vitara setup with 416whp ran 11.3@ 130mph On drag radials... So we could be close to see a 10 sec vitara setup soon

ITS CONFIRMED.. post by JFK on H-T

I went 11.378 @ 130.37mph w/a 1.824 60ft this weekend on some crap Nitto drag radials, 205/55-14's at 15psi inflation. STILL NO SLICKS!=)

I got to the track late, so this was my first and only pass at this boost level and on these Nitto tires. Car was in daily driven trim, full exhaust and a full tank of gas.

There's definitely more in it, because I bogged it down to 3200rpm on the launch, and then pedaled it on/off/on in 2nd because it completely blew the tires off on the 1-2 shift.

Track is closed for this year, so I'll have to try to better it next year. It'll definitely do 10's on slicks. I might try to go 10's on some 225/50-15 BFG drag radials just for the challenge though!
;)

good question... prolly kinda suggish as ~8.5:1.... but i only have a 14b turbo, so the vitaras should be fun when i put 'em in this winter :p

Mr bother's civic drives like a normal civic out of boost. It's slow and docile until about 4500rpm, then all hell breaks loose.

Honestly in my setup it drove like normal..unless you race everyone from stop light to stop light all the time.. Boost kicked in at 3000rpms anyway so it wasnt like out of boost for long when you floored it.

I have mentioned this before but.. I broke in my engine N/A for 1000 miles with the vitaras. During that time i took the car to the track for some runs to see how these pistons would do N/A and i actually ran better a better time with the vitaras than with the higher CR stock pistons.

Yep, it is pretty damn normal out of boost. Like my brother said, once it starts to build boost it turns into a completely different car. I honestly can't wait to to retune for 24psi.

out of boost its just like a stock honda with a fart can. but when the boost kicks inn, its like jekyll and hyde. i drive it to work easy everyday and get great gas milege. but when i want to get on it, it tire melting furry in 1st and 2nd. 3rd is controlled spin. 4th can do 130 and pins you back HARD. with 18 psi daily driven and 25 psi on race gas, all i can say is vitaras ftw. these pistons can take a beating. i cant say enough about these pistons. only thing is 405 hp feels really nice. go with fjt on these pistons. ill vouch for his customer service.

thanks.. haha i just got news from my EX car.. The guy blew the tranny racing an MR EVO.. he was in front when it happened.. They put in a new tranny(92-95 Z6 tranny), installed an Edelbrock Intake Manifold and they took out the T3 super 60 in favor of a new T3/t4 turbo...

So we will probably see some new numbers from this non vtec setup.I think theyre going for atleast 325whp on a sohc non vtec setup with still a stock Y7 head.

I got a question: say I were to run a SIMILAR ( i want to go vtec at least ) setup to that. What size bore is it and how long are these type of motors lasting with these pistons? Also, what rod are these fitting on?

yeah call me a n00b i dont care cause i am a n00b to the Ds!

bore is 75 mm just like a d-series.
you can order oversized 75.5 mm if you decide on borring out a bit more with your hone. how long they last depends on the tuner. with a good tune, and good maintenance and care of your motor without raping it everyday, it should last quite awhile. any boosted car requires more maintenance than a non- boosted car. but like i said, a good tune is a must! btw, if youre gonna boost it, dont worry about v-tack. it doesnt even madder when you start boosting with these pistons. just work with what you got and youll be happy, trust me.

the ones i sell just come in 75mm and 76mm..

They will fit on Eagle rods, TT rods and pretty much any other aftermarket rod for the D series motors. The pistons are floating wrist pin style so the instalation on the rods is pretty easy.

How long they last? If the tune is good it can last long.. I ran my setup daily boosting 18PSI for 2 years, i sold the car and it still running with the vitara pistons..So on my case the car has been up and running now for around for 2yrs and 5 months.
