y8 manifold idol

Does this mean we get to vote a Y8 mani off each week....?!

lol, j/k

If you have done the swap from Z6 to Y8 and the idle is messed up, sounds like an air leak, possibly wher the TB bolts on to the mani?

Did you use a new TB gasket?

i had that same problem on my car but i didnt have a y8 on my z6 if you have changed the TB disconnect the intake piping and look inside the tb where the butterfly is or the flap whatever its called.....mine had a whole in it that went to the manifold you have to plug the hole some people like myself used JB weld or duct tape... if you dont understand what im talkin about start the car with the intake off and and feel your hand inside the TB
and if thats not the problem check maybe you didnt clean the old mani gasket off the head good enough and its leakin that happened to me once and it all else fails grab some brake cleaner and spray all over the manifold and try to find the bubbles or noises of where its coming from

search for idle surgeing

yeah ive heard of this problem being notorious as the main reason for it is the idle air control valve mounted and directly underneat the throttle body. There is a plunger inside there that likes to stick, you have to put that thing back into place.

LMAO about y8 idol, those things can really sing eh

why did you put a y8 manifold on your z6??? all you did was lose power

i didnt put it on my uncle did.

so you actually lose power putting in a y8?

pppppppfttt biased opinion :) It should be the same or slightly better with the Y8...since that is the better manifold :D

thats what i was thinking because the y8 is a little bigger than the z6

all thats based on opinion... show me a dyno where it does gain power and il kiss your ass.. peak power isnt everything

is there a dyno of a z6 vs. y8 that shows the z6 gains power? Not being a smart ass but i'd like to see solid info either way.

i think transzex had a dyno... y8 manifold is best for y8.. z6 is best for z6

ah, okay. I have a y8 manifold laying here anyways (and a y8 head on my car). :p

Im having the same problem from me switching mine from z6 to y8. I still have no idea what the problem is.

Don't forget about the air injection holes, on 99-00 Y8 manifolds.

yeah...thats what im guessing is up with mine.....how can i fix that?

i have no idea what year is mine. so the 99-00 have air injection holes and the 96-98 dont?

Correct. 99-00=obd2b, which resulted in a little bit different smog regulation

You can tell the difference between the 2 by looking at the flange that mounts to the head. If there is a brass barb fitting there, then your manifold has air injection. If thats the case, 4 set screws and a tap and die will plug them up nicely
