exhaust difference

Is the only difference in a Hatch exhaust to a Coupe exhaust that the center pipe is longer or is the axle back shorter too. I have the chance to buy an exhaust local but it's a hatchback now that I look into it, can I just add a piece of pipe and be good to go?

Hatches are 6 inches shorter or something like that.

I put an exhaust from a hatch on my 98 2 Door DX and i had to extend the pipe after the axle. That was the only difference...
