View Full Version : Aftermarket pedals (yes, I said it)

Just wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with any aftermarket pedal covers. The rubber on my clutch pedal has worn through and I thought it might be nice to see some brushed aluminum down there rather than nasty worn out rubber. My main concerns are mounting and size, it must be stock size and mount securely. I only have known one person who had aftermarket pedals (cheezy shit that lit up neon blue) and they came off while he was driving once. Totally unacceptable.

Any good/bad experiences or reccomendations?

when I bought my car, there were no rubber pads on the brake and clutch pedals. the previous owner threw in a set of ricer pedals when i bought the car. i went down to the skate shop and bought a sheet of grip tape and proceeded to cut out enough to cover the ricer pedals and secure them on. I have not had one single problem with them in 3 years and I have had my car on the track multiple times.

I'm thinking about these sets, though I'm not too sure about the "speed holes"

Attractive, but how do they mount?

Lame looking, but appear to have a secure mounting method.

Should I go OEM?

I'm trying to avoid universal mounting patters like these use, i'd rather drill through the existing pedals just so long as they don't come loose. Gosh are these ugly.

Grip tape, that'll surely hold, but I occasionally drive barefoot and I don't think my feet will much appreciate it.

grip tapes not that bad, i used to skate barefoot occasionally. OEM would be the most JDM :D :D

ive had similar ricer pedals, if installed right wont be a problem. The mugen ones will have an L shaped bolt (basically half a wing nut) which will hold it on at each corner. Same way as the ricer pedals. Also remember with smooth metal, itll be slick when it gets wet. That was the problem with mine, they got wet and it was tough sometimes.

yup /\ smooth isnt fun when your shoes are wet your foot will slip off the clutch constantly

If you do go OEM, get your pads from a Honda dealer.

There's plenty of look-a-likes available, most notably the HELP brand. They will fall off in less than a year. Cheap crap.

I got some blue Razo knock-offs for less than $10. So far, so good. I like the feel better than stock. The look is "eh". The have 4 clips, one on each corner, the grab onto the back of the pedal plate.

if installed correctly, the corner clips are very secured. Had mine on for 5 years - secured. But what I did was set the aftermarket pedals on top of the oem rubber cover.

Your best bet are the ones that screw directly onto the pedals...no corner clips.

I have big feet, 13-14.. I had to get pedals. Get ones that have a little bit of grip, After its been raining, and you walk through water, and you push that break pedal when your shoe is wet, trying to avoid a car infront of you... you'll wish they had some grip.

Isnt it illegal to drive with no shoes?

I'm running these, I don't know about the whole screwing into the exsisting pedals idea, I put blue locktite on these and they've never come loose or even thought about it.

just use some 3m outdoor double sided tape or side molding tape between the "ricer" pedals and the oem pedal before you screw the wing nuts tight, they will never come off (without brute force) so long as you clean both surfaces before hand.

I got these at PepBoys ~5 yrs ago.
Paid ~$12
WhoA, that's real CF sweetness in thurr! :haha:

Yeah, they've got the corner clips, but in 5 years, I've NEVER had them come loose and they've got decent wet grip.

get a set of sparco ones, you can get them pretty inexpensive and most of them mount to the pedal with screws and not the funky brackets some aftermartkets use. A fried of mine has some in his coupe that he autocrosses, he loves them and has never had a problem.
