Is there any benefit to this swap? Should I just remove the cam and slap in the B7 head? I did a search if i missed something please link. I have a seperate a6 head and the b7 already on the engine. Swap the cam? Slap the new head on and do a HG while I'm at it? Which head is better for HP. I know they have pretty much the same exact castings but what about the valvetrain? Also with an a6 head do I need to change the cam pulley?

The heads are the same, as is the cam gear, only the cam is different.

And early B7's had the weaker valve springs, right?

if the cam gears are the same y do u have to put a y7 or a y8 cam gear to correct the half a tooth difference if you just use the cam?

Put the A6 cam in the B7 for now. Then P&P the A6 head w/ a good valve job, stiffer springs, new retainers, and a wild cam. I think Endyne makes some for it. Oh, before I get too carried away are you planning to stay N/A or boost it?

Don't forget to slap on a Z6 intake manifold! SOOOO worth it.

Damn, how could I forget that one. Isn't the Y8 considered the Type R of D's though? I know either is better than the B7 but I thought I read the Y8 IM is a little better.

got a z6 manifold laying down next to the spot layed out for the head. i'm looking to stay n/a as a daily driver that sees about 500 miles a week. i'm going to clean up the a6 head see how it looks maybe a lil home made port job. than toss it on the b7 block. new head gasket and wham wait for the tranny to go and get a z6 tranny.

Sounds like a plan, here's a link to my DIY P&P on my H23 head I'm building. I still have to snatch out the valves and get the bowls (looks at spring compressor) but it's done for th most part other than some minor refinements.
