if you are only after 250-300 whp, you should consider more then 8.5:1 CR. A good tune, and you can easily pull off more. These D-series handle a lot before detonating.

For something as vital as pistons I would not try to skimp. You would probably be much better off buying from a reputable manufacturer.

i use them and my car make an upwards of 400 hp with no problems. the vitaras imo are the way to go.

Sounds like they are good pistons from what i read, now what about TT rods with them? i have also read some on that and have seen some good things.

ALSO...... would 20psi be safe with this setup? I have been told that i would not be able to make 300 at 15psi like i had planned.

psi means nothing alone. We need motor specs, turbo size, and a million other factors...

Well, i am not sure what turbo yet. i asked in this thread....http://www.d-series.org/forums/showthread.php?p=661554#post661554
In there i was told a t3/t4. or 16g. i'm not sure though. i'm a noob when it comes to turbo sizing.

i use a t3/t4 57 trim .60/63 stage 3 wheel. that puts out a decient amout of cfm and power. i run 18 psi everyday around 350 hp.the car has been ran on 25 psi on pump gas.
JFK78 on hondatech made 416 hp @ 30 psi with the same size turbo.
heres my dyno.

i've wonder about those pistons myself and all i hear and read is good things...not one bad thing about those pistons.... the only thing i don't understand is do you have to horn and bore the block with those piston or can you just through them on some eagle rods and install....very confused

fast2camciv ran my car 11.43 @ 127 when it was his. he got booted from the track for not having a roll cage.
JFK78 ran a 11.706 @ 126.28 mph on 23psi.

the first over bore on these is .040 so you would have to bore out to 76mm.

i bought the car a couple of weeks ago. but enough about my car. this is someone else's thread about vitara pistons. i just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about how successful the vitaras are.

I'm glad i found this information out. Now what pistons do i buy? the y7 or z6 pistons? (i'm going with a y7 block and z6 head) I want the lowest compression possible.
So the pistons are not stock size? i am gonna have to bore it?
civic97
10-17-2006, 06:31 PM
yes they are stock size. i was just saying if you do overbore its .040 not the typical .020. these where made for motorcycles so no y8 or z6 ;) just get a set

10-17-2006, 06:33 PM
the vitara piston is a 75 mm piston. it should fit right into your d-series like it was meant to. a light hone is reccomended to set the rings properly. i prefer a ball hone for a little heavier crosshatch
İurbow
10-17-2006, 06:43 PM
yea, i'm gonna have to get hit honed anyway because of some surface rust from condensation. So what will my compression be (about)?
drunkinmaster1
10-17-2006, 06:49 PM
compression varies based on the head, piston, deck height, gasket etc.
the vitaras are a lower compression piston than standard d-series pistons.
heres a compression calculator to help you get a resonable idea.
i hope it helps.

you can get the Nippon racing ones, which are Vitaras made by another company, in .020 oversized
