i always thought it would be stupid because less shifter less leverage

everybody in cleveland does that to the stock shifters and says they have a short shifter. instead of spending 10 bucks on ebay and buying a decent one. i love my ebay short throw

cutting a stock shifter still doesnt make your throws any shorter...just for looks i guess...
i wouldent do it it would just show how cheap you are i have a skunk2 short shifter
doesnt make any sense to me why someone would do that. hell I dont even like driving a car with a short shifter in it. my gsr shifter i have in my hatch is awesome.

These "tuners" who are hack-sawing their shifter's don't understand what the term short-shiftermeans.

after putting it together, i drove driven my friend's 96 integra after a short shifter, the black poly ES shifter bushings (both at the shifter and the transmission) and a spoon ti shift knob were installed and IMO it felt absolutely awesome :TU:
the first thing i thought to myself was one day i want my car to shift like this. i've driven many cars with stock rubber, leather or leather and metal shift knobs and there was something too about the smooth metal feel of the spoon shiftknob that surpassed any shifter i'd ever used
i think if you shift PROPERLY (yes, that means none of the no-letting-off-the-gas-while-shifting nonsense) and you do it precisely (practice if you need to in normal city driving or a parking lot) you shouldn't have any problems with a QUALITY short shifter. i'd use a skunk2 short throw with the spoon ti or skunk2 weighted knob any day :TU:

DUDE the shifter is like the Uber dick shift....
well whatever. to each their own.
i like my shifter to be short as hell..stock miata has one of the nicest levels on the shifter..
i thought about cutting mine but i dont know how to go about threading it for the knob i want..
oh and i hear the Ebay short shifters snap (i could be wrong)...
but i heard a story about a guy who was just driving and shifted and it cracked in half...
but you know stories....they are stories...

lol, I love my ebay short shifter....
I get nothing but compliments on how it feels.
Mine is just shortened under the car where it connects to the shaft,
it feels awesome... and yeah.... only $12 shipped to my door.

it's the stock height, but short throw... feels awesome...
people always think they're in 3rd when they are in first cause of my jdm tranny... the shifter sits closer to the passenger seat =P

i may have a short throw...my Ex Gf baught a Del after driving mine...and when i put in her sterio i saw her shifter was black...mine on the other hand is chrome and i also dont have that rubber boot under the leather boot.
her car was owned by a little old lady and had 40k when she baught it.
mine was owned by some ricer lesbian lol (who did alot of strange things with the car @.@ ) and had 108K on it when i baught it
i dont remember if there was a dif in the shifting tho...between hers and mine..i really cant remember
but i assume its changed cuz the shifter is a different color as well as the boot missing on mine.
and i want a short height on the shifter rod...that not only looks good but feels better IMO....(my buddy did it on his EK...one of the most beautiful EKs ever)

cutting a stock shifter still doesnt make your throws any shorter...just for looks i guess...
geometrically it actually does, based on a triangle having a long leg, the shifter, will require you a longer distance to travel to get to the other leg, the place where the shifter is going, but if you reduce the height you reduce the distance it must travel to get there, since you didnt change the pivot point the angle is still the same so based on sine and cosine and the fact that the legs are now shorter the distance your hand must travel between shifts is shorter as well.
that being said, it doesnt reduce it very much

The moronic PO of my integra did the hacksaw thing.... too bad he was too dumb to know how to re thread it...... and too dumb to realize a short throw actually changes the moment arm of the throw.... not the height.

That would be Greg aka "Slater" with a Black B16 Del Sol, the one I kept whooping on with the D15B7. Besides IF there was video on me driving a Sol with a FLP shifter, the steering wheel is on the wrong side......
:mikej:
I got one in trade, will be installing it soon. I had pics, but deleted them this morning while cleaning up my photofuckit account. The shift boot will need modified. BTW, the shifter has been around for over four years. I was to be the EG test subject in Jume 2002, but after hurting the D16Z6 a second time, motor tore down, test driving wasn't possible.
I will say this, 4th gear if you wanna change CD's :)

i cut my stock one down i i would have to say whynot its the same thing as one you would buy you never see them as long as you use a shift boot any way you could buy some cool stickers with the money you save (SCORE):bull:

I hate the ebay 1's. Going from 1-2 gear felt difficult. I swapped it out and hour later and gave it away.
