how much gains would i b looking at with a y8 intake manifold and b16 throttle body ??
i have a z6 engine in a eg hatch

i dont know of any hp gains for sure on the mani. but the tb is just going to give you a better throttle response. im sure this is already covered. search a bit. and thou shall revel in learning. =)

you mean loss of power?
I stay Z6 intake for a reason...........

well there is gains if you make use of the extra air velocity with a tuneable ecu or adj fuel reg.

moose dyno compared b-series t/b and y8 IM. both mods resulted in peak HP loss.

:TU: Y8 is overrated!

but wat about increased torque ?

or is b16 throttle body better on z6 intake manifold ?

bump above question...
b16 throttle body on z6 intake manifold... ?

read for yourself. for all intensive purposes, loss at all RPMs. y8 is WAYYY overrated.

B16 TB = more air flow over z6 TB

but is it needed?
unless you have $1000+ in head mods, it's not needed.

does it bolt straight on ??

yes it will bolt straight on. most d-series parts will work together.

dam and i just bought a y8 mani.:hammer: would it be better for a turbo ap

only if the tuning setup allows you to ADD 10% fuel to cylinder #3 due to the shitty flow.

i mean does b16 throttle body bolt onto z6 intake minfold ?
what u mean by add 10% fuel to cylinder 3 ? due to shitty flow ?
transzex

#3 flows so much better than the other three, engine will run lean on that cylinder, ESP. if runnign boost.

bigger injector in #3 ?

no one has answered my question tho..
does b16 throttle body bolt on to z6 intake manifold ?
cory jordan
10-26-2006, 12:12 AM
yes,....
damn!
It does bolt on, but, unless you have an increased need for flow due to porting and a bigger cam (stage 3 or around there), you won't benefit from it...

Bone, were those numbers from the 96-98 or 99-00 manifold? Just wondering if Honda saw this in the 96-98 intake manifold, thenconverted to the larger plenium.

If the Y8 manifold is being said to be crap...how much better does the Z6 mani flow than my A6 manifold? How would the Z6 compare to a Skunk2 manifold (non-OEM)? In my case (internally stock D16A6) I went from 113whp and 106lb-ft to 127whp and 114lb-ft without losing power anywhere. That 14hp peak gain turned into 24whp gain by the time the limiter kicked in at 7500. Old HP = A6 mani and OEM 55mm TB, HP S2 is Skunk@ intake mani and 58mm Integra TB.
Old HP HP S2 Difference
3200 59.1 63.4 4
3400 60.9 66.7 6
3600 63.8 69.3 5
3800 68.0 73.1 5
4000 71.6 78.5 7
4200 76.8 83.2 6
4400 84.6 88.0 3
4600 92.9 96.4 4
4800 96.9 104.2 7
5000 99.0 104.8 6
5200 98.1 103.0 5
5400 101.8 109.0 7
5600 107.7 115.2 7
5800 110.5 120.4 10
6000 113.1 123.4 10
6200 113.4 127.5 14
6400 113.4 127.4 14
6600 110.6 127.0 16
6800 108.8 126.3 17
7000 106.7 125.3 19
7200 101.5 123.4 22
7400 95.8 119.8 24
If I decide to jump into Honda Challenge there is a current rule that requires the use of an OEM manifold. Sooo, what would I gain from the A6 mani...or what would I lose from the S2 mani.
