i just been reading something about the laws on catalytic convertors in the uk and it says all cars made after 1993 have to be fitted with cats,,does this mean my 1992 civic doesent have to have one by law???it has one fitted as standard but i am getting a new exhaust and if i dont need a cat i can just get a de-cat pipe and forget about it.....does any1 know if this is true or not?

I can't say about U.K. laws, but I can tell you that removing the cat makes the exhaust very loud and lousy sounding.

i think any pre 91 cars do not have to have a cat!!!
just get a de cat , and put the cat back on at MOT time ;)

i ant running a cat on my 92 civic. it not that loud on low RPM. the only time i pass 3g on my civic is when i am trying to speed up to get on the high way. anything over 3 G you can hear the different in with out having an exhuast. i do not think it is louder then them rice out mufflers.

U.K laws require a cat on- 93 plate on but anything older does not need one and you should be okay going with a straight through pipe my bro owns a 90 civic hatch and his passes the m.o.t wid flying colours, i missed out wid mine coz it`s 95 but i just wip it on and off for the m.o.t no hassle.

A Mk2 CRX or Mk4 Civic doesn't need a CAT as the model type is listed as a pre '92 car!
