OK when people say they have Uberdata chipped on their p28 ecu, do they mean it is socketed as to connected a cable from the laptop to the ecu and then they can adjust things such as timing working with the program( hondata, chrome, uberdata)....is this the reality or am i dreaming?

it means they have a chip with a bin from Uberdata burned on it, in their ECU. but there is a chip emulator that allows for realtime editing, it's called the Ostrich.

as long as you can tune with the program without having to desolder and remove the chip and resolder it up again. THats ultimately what i want to do, illhave to look into the ostrich deal.

the chip is on a ZIF socket, so it can be removed and reinstalled, to change maps.

ok...now i get it..thanks

also you can get a 4 pin header that connects you ecu to laptop via usb cable for realtime data logging and use a program named freelog..

jeezuz theres a lot of programs, so far ive heard of turbo edit, ostrich, uberdata, hondata, chrome, now freelog. WHat i really want is a realtime tuning program where i can use a p28 ecu with my laptop and adjust timing and other features. Ill search for freelog and see what i get,,thanks

Good stuff, I didn't know about freelog either. So you can just get the 4pin header like the one being sold in F/S section and then hook it up to a laptop and run freelog and it will datalogg?

An ostrich is just a diff name for a usb cable coming out of the ecu. If you're car is obd1 you should use uberdata. If it's obd0 then you'll use turbo-edit. I'm gonna be doing this to my pm6 cause my car's a track rat and i like to fiddle.

ah i see, atleast i know now that i need uberdata. Thanks again, and i got some hell of reading set aside for all this ecu chipping and tuning so i can understand the language.

freelog is a free real time data logger yes you need the HULOG Honda USB Datalog Interface like the one i'm selling and here is the link to freelog
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/freelog/setup.zip?download
and here is the link to the forum

also j12 must be cut for crome and uncut for uberdata..

it's not just a cable. Ostrich is a chip emulator. it's RAM, instead of ROM, to be used in the ECU

pgmfi.org obd1 tuning list:

-[software] crome or uberdata (whichever flavor you prefer, try both for map editing)
-[software] freelog or uberdata or crome pro (for datalogging)

-[hardware] Ostritch from Moates.net (on the fly tuning, ROM elmulation)
-[hardware] chipped p28 (most common) w/ datalogging header
-[hardware] datalogging cable

*optional*
-[hardware] wideband o2, and something to monitor knock (don't know how you'd tune without them, but you can (i.e. dyno time)
-[hardware] chip programmer/burner
-[hardware] chips

Also, the dataloging on the fly with uberdata or freelog, does that catch info from the tps and the map sensor? I thought you had to know those to know where to change the fuel maps at.
