I have a 92 EG8.5 speed LX ..Should I stay with a D15B7? I have a friend who has a EF Hatch with a 1.6 Bottom Block. and a V-TEC HEAD.....if i build a N/A D15B7 with the following (Intake, Exhaust, Header, and a CAM) Will I beat him or if I convert to a D16VTEC motor with ( Intake , Exhaust , Header and cam?) I know all these things have many human factors ( such as drivers) but pretty much would I make more horsepower ?Hes just has a 1.6 block on a D15B Vtec head with a intake, exhaust and header).

Yeah, thanks for the opnion...most people agreed with exactly what you said so I think im gonna go V-tec and build it for N/A...or maybe spray...

Possibly with the Z6 and IHE with a good cam and tune you should beat his what is basically a Z6 also with IHE but in a lighter car.

D16 bottom end = more torque, simple answer.

What was the problem?

While I love my D15B7 for being a badass underdog, the D16 has more useable torque, VTEC or not. This fact has me wondering about my next tranny setup for gas mileage. The D16Z6 could lug 5th gear, dunno how the D15B7 will react.
