I recently swapped an Si trans into my VX and was greeted by an annoying growl/buzzing noise that stopped when I pushed the clutch in. Some research on my part revealed that it was most likely the ISB. So I ordered my parts, yanked the trans, replaced the ISB and put it back together. Now the sound is much quieter.. no more loud howling or growling sounds, just a purring sound that is bothering me. It only happens when the clutch is out and when coasting in gear with the clutch pressed in, you hear a slight whine. All OEM parts were used except for an oem pilot bushing.. not sure if that would attribute to this noise.

I'm not really in the mood to bother with it.. it drives great but I'm not going to be excited if the trans goes out on me. Anyone wanna guess what it is?

Transzex: if you're going up to visit Tim anytime soon on a weekend, I live right down the street from Unleaded so maybe that could be arranged?

PS.....

I have a Bone build on the shelf....

Think I told you this before you started, but in any case. Leave it to Bone. He's too good for words. I shadow his ability on the D trans, and love to give him basket cases I blow all to hell. I won't even build them, if that says something about how GOOD you have to be to get them right. Parts swapper advisory on all Honda trannies.

Brad, I think it's time for a record breaking swap.

I did Vlad's with a little help in 1 hour 47 minutes. Me and Bone did his in his garage in Ohio in 2 hours and 4 minutes.

I can see me, Bone, Scho, You, and another assorted tool runner taking it out in under 1 hour 30 mins. With 4, we might even be able to crack the 1 hour barrier!!!!

I don't want to take my trans back out!! :D

Well.. I guess if Bone says it's a bad noise, it's coming out... not something I want to do again.
