Hey guys, I've done some reading and searching and I am about to start putting together a d-series engine for my friend and build it up the NA route.

I've had a stock d16z6 in the past and found it a great engine...but I've gone the B-series route so I don't have much knowledge on d-series engines.

I was thinking of trying to find him a D16Y8, D16Z7 or a D16Z6.

Just wanted to verify with the d-series guys which one would be best to start off.
The pistons will obviously be dropped for PM7 integra pistons and a lumpy ZEX cam will be installed as well.

Also, I've searched for info but does anybody know what transmission has a fairly short gear ratio on the d-series? I've heard it's the CX tranny but wanted to double check

Thank you
bart

The cx tranny is the longest geared tranny on the planet. For short gears you want an ex or si tranny. D15b7, z6, a6, or zc's are all good motors. Just depends on what you can find.

I built a z6/y8 combo. Z6 block, with a y8 head.

122 wtq

Stock head ports and valves btw, i'll change that next summer.

as for thr tranny, if you don't want to build one, the the ex/si tranny is the one you want. I'm gettiung ready to build an LSD shorter ratio tranny.
