Is the ECU chipped, if so, then they might have put a shift light in at redline.
You should pull the codes (search) and see what it says...if the light is staying on after it's thrown.
Most likely, it's a random misfire or something similar....which MAY be related to the spark plugs being of the wrong heat range or incorrect gapped, etc.

No ECU is not chipped .Every thing is in stock condition.I have already checked the distributor , plug wires and the plugs . They are fine . Im confused as to what could be the problem . Can it be the VSSr, but the speedo meter is working fine .

maybe it v-tec problem. just check your codes and go from there. 0

hard to check codes if the light if it's not throwing one. I'm going to take a random guess here that you may have a spark plug wire that is either loose, or is being pushed up off the spark plug at WOT (due to blow by gasses pushing through the seals prolly).
Do you see any oil on your spark plugs (on the upper part, not the electrode area, the white part above the threading.

Check oil, it could be an oil pressure problem

I have got the error code its 22 which means VTEC pressure valve
Check light comes only in 3rd gear near read line , other than that the car runs fine .Even with the check light on the car runs fine .I got the compression checked and the guy told me that engine is in perfect condition .
im confused if its an oil pressure problem that why not CEL comes on in first and second gear . Secondly if its a faulty Pressure switch then also it should through CEL in first or second gear .
Please help me .

Okay, so lets see, in 3rd gear the only thing different is your speed.... But that shouldn't really change the g-forces that would effect oil pressure.
Have you tried changing your oil? in all seriousness.

Yes i have changed the oil as well but that didnt changed the problem. OK another thing that is different in 3rd gear is the increased BackPressure , as the exhaust system has never been changed and the car is quiet old definately there is going to be exceesive backpressure . So is it possible that this exceesive backpressure affects the oil pressure in any way ?????

check engine light at read line
I hate that darn ol' READ line, and especially when the CEL comes on at it...
Gears do not affect backpressure in an exhaust system.
Exhaust backpressure does not affect oil pressure.
If you've got a code 22, fix it. Test it out and figure out why it's doing that. A code 22 will not allow vtec to work.
Sometimes it means, put in more oil. About 3.5 us quarts is usually what mine takes to fill her up.

Yeah thats the problem , how do i remove this code 22 . engine oil is full 3.5 liters , recently replaced the Vtec Solenoid and Pressure switch .
VTEC engages fine, even with the check light on the vtec engages .
OK is there a way to bypass the vtec pressure check , in that way i can be sure weather its a oil pressure related issue or not .
I have read in some forums that you can connect vtec solenoid wire to VTEC pressure switch wire .... but im not clear about it .

Can any one conform this
Vtec Pressure switch constantly sends a ground signal to the D6 pin of ecu , and just as the VTEC kicks in it just stops the signal , which means nothing is applied to d6 neither Ground nor Positive signal .
So if i connect A4 to D6 , it will give a ground signal to d6 and just as the vtec kicks in it starts giving 12v signal .
My question here is will this 12v signal affect the ecu , because ecu never expects a 12v signal at D6???

sounds like an ECU shift light.

change the engine oil, it happened to my engine a while ago, i think it's because you're running low in engine oil (assume you haven't change the engine oil for a while). mine works jsut fine right after changing the engine oil.

Yea i already did that . Oil is new and full . Actually the problem started comming after i changed the head gasket . Before that there was no problem .Is the head gasket for Vtec and Non Vtec motor the same or is there any difference . If yes than what that difference???

Is the head gasket for Vtec and Non Vtec D15 motor the same?
Please answer.

How many miles are on the motor? Your oil pump might be going.

Engine has 62000 miles on it. I also changed the Oil pump but the problem is still there . Can it be the Head Gasket????

Can any one answer my one last question
Is there a difference between VTEC and NON VTEC HeadGasket of D15 .
maybe ... the vtec oil holes are blocked inside te engine.
Hows your gasket ?
is it the car smoking, and thing in the rad ?
I am sure the D15 gasket is diffrent.
