sorry if this is on the wrong section. i was driving down the highway and i heard a loud as sound, so i pull over and check all of my tire. they all was good. start the car back up and same sound. then i knew i had a exhuast problem. i look under my car and my cat. is just hanging on there. it was so rusty off that it fell off from the pipling. i do not have money to buy a new cat. i was thinking about getting a str8 pipe and just weld back to take the place of the cat.i live in ohio now so i ant gotta worry about emission laws. it a old1. anyone have any pro/cons about doing this? d15b 92 dx.

if your not worried about emissions, just take it to a muffler shop and ask them if they will take out the old cat and just put a straight piece of pipe in there.

that illegal. the shop cant do that. if they find your car with out a cat. they are SOPOSE going to give you a fine and cant work on your car. Their are emission laws in ohio but you do not have to get a test or anything like many other states.

i gave a muffler shop $30 "under the table" and they hooked me up. told me not to say where i got the work done.

you could try some muffler bandage, i think thats what its called.

look for it at your local parts store, but dont expect it to last long.

90% of muffler shops will weld in a straight pipe in place of a cat if you pay them under the table. If you don't want to go that route you can buy a cheap test pipe.

my ass cheap. i jst need to find a other way to put it all now, i just do not wanne weld. i need some strong as exploy that can stand the heat. i not so good as welding.

Tell them the car is gettting converted to a track car only. And the only reason why you still have plates on it is so you could drive it there, and not get pulled over, or have to pay a tow truck. I've done it. IF it's going to be a "track car only", why in the would they say no?

i went to the junkyard pick up the exhuast pipe.only 15 dollar and it look like it will work on my car. i mean it was on a turbo b7 and it look like he ran str8 pipe from the header to the muffer i hope it works. YAY and i found a ex dash guagle with a tech too 25 dollor . good day for me.

i just put on my str8 pipe with shock muffler. i thought it would be very loud but it was not. so i am happy with the 15 dollor exhaust. i can feel the different.
