So here's the deal, I recently picked up another motor ( D16Y8 ) to take out the other one and finish up the buildup on it, So0 we put this NEW motor I picked about 2months ago, everything werks fine, hit vtec fine, fluids and everyting else run great!. car has I/H/E and regular NGK wires/sparks...Recenty i've noticed that the car wont hit VTEC!!! it just goes LOL, kinda hard to explain, i womp on it to almost redline no vtec, i shift gears and increase RPM's and no VTEC... I've checked the oil to see if i have enough, its fine, ....if anyone no's any idea what could be causing this problem, or ways to fix it , it would be very helpful! , This motor has about 100,000 miles but 60k on the trannyblock. ..
Thanx for your help in advance!

You might need a new vtec solenoid......that or make sure all your connections are good....

I'm not trying to be stupid, but what makes you so sure that vtec is not ingaging. With stock motors it really don't feel much different or sound different. You could hookup a vtec light to check it.
If it isn't working though my first thought would be the ecu. Did you get the ecu with the motor or are you trying to run your stock and using a vafc or something to piggyback off of it to make it run?

unless you have a DOHC VTEC you couldnt miss the vtec enaging on that.....if you do your just dumb :D

BseriesKllR - haha no dohc. sorry, but i will change the VTEC solenoid jut to be sure. Thanx
GudeCivic- acutally got the ecu with it, it werked fine up untill now, only thing is that i am running a piggy back system , APEXI SAFC. could that be a problem? lose connection?
I do acutally feel it a little, not suprized, and it does sound different, maybe its just mine LOL, but i dunno.

whats your VTEC set at? that might be the problem... stock VTEC is like 5200-5600 or so in a civic, it'll feel like VTEC kicks in harder at stock, if you set it down to 4800 or so, you won't notice it kick in but it will help your ET

It deffinatly could be the afc. Is you car running fine other than the vtec? I was told by Bill Gude that Honda's have some kind of safety program built into the ecu that, if the car is not running properly vtec will not engage.

DraZtiK - my Vtec is at stock, i dont have it controlled to tune/kick it at ainyting other then stock rpm's i only have a SAFC that controls the fuel.
GudeCivic- Yea other then the Vtec im running fine. I dunno if its the safc , but tomorrow i will be checking my conections again to make sure a wire isnt sliped out or waht not.
I went out for a drive to day , got on a stragiht away, and didnt hear it , but yet felt that "little pull" it provides. werid stuff man!
