Anyone with any cool tricks or tips to do to your car that don't cost anything or barely anything please post here. For example, I know how to make a flip flop trunk, a VTEC indicator light, and how to reroute your hood release. Here is a link to hondahookup.com were someone started a similar topic. My post on the VTEC is on there under Adrockstg. Enjoy, and I hope people can come up with some cool stuff.

put a washer behind the spring in your oil pump to raise the pressure. But you really only need it if your feeding a turbo.

You ever hear the one about the hood latch cable re-routing? LOL Thats actually a good one. I kind of wondered about that one afternoon when I had to replace mine. It would be very easy to open the head if you can get your hand inside the fender!

I have a old Nintendo NES controller that has my alarm light, indiglo switch (green/blue), and indiglo brightness control dial.
I just got bored on day.

closing you valve lash to in 0.005 and ex 0.007 will give a little improvement over standard as the smaller gaps gives the impression of a longer duration cam

Wouldn't you hear more of that notorius honda valve clatter if you did this? One time i set mine wrong and the valves were clattering like a Diesel. But I can't remember if i set the lash to small or to wide.

.007, and .009 ex.......I always go .006, and .008.

Put 2 drops of dawn liquid dish soap or something equivalent into the radiator as the glycol will break the waters surface tension and help the water "cling" to parts and help cool them.

Why does the valve lash make so much of a difference in how the motor runs? I set mine to .008" in/.010" ex back in august, and leave it to me to miss a gear in october. I just checked them today because there was a regular knocking noise at idle, and 15 were still where I left them. The only different one was the inside intake valve on #4, and that was .010 or so. I set that back to .008 and: motor smooth as opposed to shaking; clattering at idle gone; low end torque reduced but high end increased (that i understand, it was imitating a low-lift cam)...but now its quieter. It used to be deafening at 60 mph, and i thought it was because of the rusty B-pipe. Now its quieter than my old OEM muffler at that speed. I know that because i used to have to turn the radio to level 25 to hear it with my old muffler, but now at level 10 its crystal clear.

The reason you may want to set your valves with tighter tolerances, is to get a little bit more out of your cam, or just quiet everything down. Gotta remember that if your valves are loose as hell then the valve isnt gonna open as far. If your valves arent opening as far, then not enough air/fuel wont come in or exhaust go out. if the exhaust isnt goin out then this could potentially raise your cylinder temps to unnecessary highs and in extreme cases, cause detonation and eventually blow you up. Soooo yes it is necessary to maintain proper valve clearances if you want your engine to perform. If you dont give a damn then do what you want, or let your girlfriend drive it.
