im trying to figure out is it worth supercharging the sohc ? if so would it be better to s/c a near fully built d16a6 or a d16a6 w/the z6 head on it ? what is more safe.cause i know forced induction is great for VTEC but is it worth the money to do ? and what d-series tranny would be best for this set-up ?

for a fully built d i would think a turbo would be better then a s/c. as for the tranny get a z6 or a y8 one. well thats my .02

yep :TU:, buy a turbo for what you'll spend on the charger, you'll be much happier. I ran a charger for 4 years and the turbo I put on in Dec. absolutely kills it in every way.

Turbo setup all the way, I've had mine on for about 3-4 weeks now and im still in love... And if you hunt hard enough you can piece one together cheap, i've got maybe $350 in my whole setup.

Well to actually answer your question i have a JRSC on my A6 and it just has a basic rebuild. I wouldnt change it for a turbo. When you say built A6 what do you mean because if you build it towards NA it might hurt FI performance example would be the cam or very high compression. One word of advice JRSC kit fuel managment suck ditch it and go with a standalone or something like turboedit. Also the stock kit on the stock boost basically sucks you will want to up he boost immediatly. And as for the Z6 head and vtec i have seen very similar numbers with a6 and z6 motors with FI so thats really your choice.
yeh.. if ur gonna drop all the money to build a motor,
might as well just go turbo and get some insane power numbers out of it.
you don't need to build your motor for a jrsc, cuz it won't make enough power to bust the rods anyways.. unless you get really intense with it(like me :P )

Get a toyota sc12 (from mr2 sc or jdm corolla ae101) or sc14 (from a previa).
Fab some brackets for it, find a suitable belt and hook it up to your intake.
chip the ecu, and you're done for about $300.

yea...there was this guy at the tracks with a s/c on a d-series,
(dont know if it was stock bottom or not) anyways...
he ran a 14.6...
thats good.....but with a supercharger?
it must of been the driver.....

Wonder what boost he was running because I have definately seen faster with a d series S/C but it was modded.

sounds to me like you'd be fabbing up more than just brackets

Turbo's Own Super charges....superchargers are cool if you just want a little more power...but 50% of the time you can pay less for a turbo set up and have way more potential for speed and power. and your not limited to the size of pully that you have....
