Is a camber kit necessary if I only lower my car 1" and get an alignment? Or will I not really even notice the additional wear from the camber being off by a little?

You dont HAVE to get one at all, no matter how much you lower it, so no its not really necessary. But im guessing your asking if your camber will be off after a 1" drop.

well, i would say that it would be a little off. For the most part, the more you drop it, the more your camber needs adjusment. When i lowered my car with the tien s tech springs, it was lowered about 1.7"......... I didnt get it aligned and my tires were worn in about a year, but only the inside treads. I got new tires and i also bought a tsudo camber kit. It was an entire A arm replacement like the skunk 2 kits. I took it to get aligned and he said that he didnt even have to use the camber kit, which pissed me off cause i spent $140 on it.

Im not sure if he had to use the camber kit i bought or not, but if he is telling the truth then i would say dont waste your money on a camber kit. The guy that gave me the alignment said that he just had to adjust the tie bars to get it within spec. Not sure if this is possible, but thats what he said. I would talk to the pwople that you are going to have do the alignment and see what they say they can do with the stock setup.

Nope, just get an alignment so your toe is good and you won't have excessive tire wear.

Yeah what they said. I never even consider a camber kit unless I'm doing 2" or more.

since were talkin about a slight drop.....are new struts needed, or would they hold up with a 1"-1.5" drop?

Get new shocks. You'll wear them out pretty quick and they're probably pretty aged anyway, so you'll just have to take it apart again.
