hey guys.I just installed the edelbrock kit on a 98 civic ex. When driving home I got a cel code of 13. I called edelbrock and didnt really get any help from there.I am just curious of how to fix or what is going on. I looked at the code and it is like a map sensor or something like that. Is my car seeing boost or what help..............Thanks

are you sure you hooked up your fuel managment right? I'm not sure, what does the edelbrock come with? is it a missing link, or something like emanage? your wiring might be off or something like that, and then your stock ecu would be noticing the boost. or something might be wrong with the map sensor.

It comes with a resistor wire. You wire into your wires so it just alters the map sensor voltage. I have heard this is a bad way to do this. Should I get a missing link or what?

your best bet is to get an AFC or go with hondata. As far as I know, missing link does not help your fuel maps at all, it merely blocks the signal going to the ecu

I got the missing link on my kit and it works great. Although I have never tried the thing with out the missing link. The resister wire in theory should work the same as the missing link. Hope this helps.
FYI Sonny you can not use the AFC with the edelbrock kit because of the second fuel rail and then the 4 extra injectors. Hondata would work though but there is no need for it right now.

ah, i didn't know that the AFC didn't work with the edelbrock kit. good to know, thanks for the info! as for hondata, yeah i agree it's kind of overkill. I'm actually going to just be running a missing link with an FMU for 7 psi which should work out. If I had the money, I'd run either hondata or AFC (more likely of a choice). but for the question, i'd say check your wiring and everything to make sure it's complete and proper. if it isn't, your car will throw a CEL because of the extra air it sees.

yes yes me and my uncle made a device to block off/ tap off the signal from the map sensor to the ecu at the point where it see boost
this isnt a quick fix but its kind of like a FCD for stock turbo cars.
then we adding a kind of cheap afc hack without the high price ofthe afc to run bigger injector. also to a point.
basic idea's:
map sensor runs 1-5volt while 3.1volt will show boost to ecu giving mil
cap it so it wont let anything over 3volt to enter ecu.
as with afc hack we turn down the voltage a % = to % incress of injector to give more fuel.. IE: 30% decress in voltage= 30% incress in injector size. ex: *310cc injector stock* with 450cc injector - 30%=315cc = close to 310cc injector
this was use on my 98 ex w/10psi revhard turbo kit
from 120k mile upto 140k mile and it ran like a stock
turbocharge car.
just my $.02

sorry for the last post..the missing link with fmu works just the same as that me and my uncle did but our way was way safer compare to the fmu. i am not aware on how the 4 extra injector works but if it runs off the stock map sensor then you have a problem if not get the fmu.
my uncle and and are currenly using the electric missinglink if whats what you want to call it. and 4-5psi turbo with no upgrade injector and its running fine. i'm in the process of locating a hks aic for a decent price to run 1or2 550cc and cranking up the boost to see if that will give us better hp compare to the afc hack

This is how the Edelbrock computer works:
The computer that the Edelbrock kit comes with is soposed to work off of the Vaccume line hooked up to it. The diode that comes with the kit doesn’t work sometimes and the computer throws a code. A diode is not constant like the missing link. The missing link is constant and will never let the computer show boost. The computer also controls the 2nd fuel rail with the extra injectors using the same vaccume line hooked up to the computer. When the edelbrock computer sees boost, using the vaccume line, it kicks on the injectors.
Any Questions?
Good Luck
