How much can you mill a d16a6 to raise compression without having piston/valve clearance problems? Also, does anyone know who makes a MLS gasket for the A6? One more thing, At what point do you need to adjust cam timing when milling the head? (example .030, 3 degrees)

Thanks for the info

depending on what else you do to the engine, you can shave the head enough that the water jackets will be too thin.

I did 0.8mm with metal 3 layer without problems.
Stock pistons though.

Thanks, so .040" on the head and .010" on the block shouldn't be a problem, right? What about cam timing and an MLS gasket, anyone else?

There is a formula somewhere for the cam timing. It will be retarded.

Im not sure if your doing racing that must be stock internals but IMO you will have better gains getting a stage 1 or 2 cam on stock compression than milling the head. food for thought.

Most of the milling is just from getting the block and head straightened out from previous issues. (overheated and cooked it) I was just wanting to get it back together and stay together. I am not allowed to change cams per rules, so yes stock internals.
