well, i just got my D16a6 block w/a Si tranny. anyway i've called a machine shop and got a real good quote. i will be getting it hot tanked, balance, hone, deck, checking for blah, blah, blah. i was pump about the price till he told me we don't disassemble or disassemble. fuck. now i've replace heads, water pumps, timing belts, anything around the engine but never disassemble/assemble. i know that it should not be a problem but if this is going to be my first rebuilt then i want to make sure i do it right. if you have any advice, videos, books and links i can start to read before i unbolt any bolt please feel free to give advise. i own the service manual and hanes maunal.

personally, i use all oem stuff in my rebuilds, done 2 myself, and ill only replace with aftermarket if need be, just the way I am.

You might scuff the wall up fro a while, i dont see any further damage.

www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is an OEM supplier, you might get similar prices there, id take a look, and these guys are about 15-20% less than most honda dealers.

www.spoonhonda.com for an electronic manual from honda

it should be easy to do, provided everything you are using is the right size for your project it should flow well, prime the oil pump before you put it in, i did mine with a soft grease and heavy oil to get things started. make sure you got a good surface to work on, and torque wrenches. just use basic common sense, and stay clean, buy a whole bottle of gojo if ya gotta, and make sure you use assembly lube or oil.

Well disassemble is quite easy, make sure you have a clean work space and keep everything in order, be careful not to ruin any seals since most o rings on Hondas don't come with rebuild kits. You'll need the old ones to match up with new ones. I suggest not going with oem gaskets and o rings, they are stupid expensive. I don't really like the look of that kit that you showed. Personally I built for turbo, but Summit racing has amazing prices on gaskets, rings and pistons. I would use ACL bearings and thrust washers. Tuner Toys has a good price on those. Reassembly is a different story, that takes some skill and patience. You'll need a few specality tools, not special to hondas but special to engine building or to percice measuring. Your best bet is to pay a buddy or someone with some skill a few beer and get him to help you build it and pay attention. Building an engine with no experience from a book is usually not advised. It's nice to have someone who knows what they are doing there with you. there is a lot a book won't tell you. Hope some of this helps, I'm putting my motor in that I just built in about 2 days, I'll let ya know how it goes, maybe it'll fall apart and you'll get to ignore this post.

Make sure you mark the rods and end caps in their respective position too as well as which end of the piston points to the front

Your best friend in a standard rebuild is the factory Honda manual. Will answer most if not all questions you will have. Make sure you clean everything the best you can and take your time.

I've used aftermarket (Rock, Clevite, ACL, Felpro.....) parts plenty of times with no problems.

well, hybridek is my good friend he told me to do it in intervals. in the sense. do a little bit at a time. bag and tag everything. and most of all take my time. look at some building engine videos, too.

my biggest scare is clearence... for everything, not torque that's the easy part.
