Iv heard alot of things about mini me swaps. People tell me they are a great deal for how much power you get. but others say that they can be a total pain in the ass. so i need some more opinons. I have a d16y7 in my 96' cx

Mini-Me's are very easy to do if you are at all mechnically inclined. I was a first timer for Honda's and did one on my EG hatch and it came out fine. Before you do the swap though, do you want to go boost or N/A?

in my opinion, it really depends...

I say do a mini-me if you answer "yes" to any of the following:
(1) you need to take your head off anyway, such as to replace the head gasket
(2) you need to do something other major to the engine, like change the timing belt (this was my incentive)
(3) you can get/already have the parts for a relatively low price
(4) you're bored, ambitious, and have another car to use in case you fuck yours up

I think mine was worth it, It was a Total Pain in the ass. But now im set up for future upgrades, and am alot more comfortable under the engine compartment. During mine I added an exedy clutch and 11lb f1 flywheel, headers and other good stuff.

But I think the high revving is taking a tole on my dx trans, sounds like shit but the motor is holding up well, I always rev it 75k plus. Plus a 50 shot zex nitrous, cam, chipped ecu.

if you turbo dont wast the money on one. if staying na go for it. a y8 head flows better then the y7 for na

Well
On my d15b7 with a Z6 head I really didn't notice anything grand
Just a little more pull down low.

mini me on a d15 is pretty pointless imo but on a d16 ya i can see why you would do one

well, like the guys said above, it all depends on what your doing in the future like turbo or N/A. cause a mini-me raises your compression...

Yes it raises your C/R a little bit... but not enough to not do a turbo set up. Z6's and Y8 heads have a lot more aftermarket support then any other sohc head. Good luck

depends if your plans include forced induction or not.. not that it can't be done just adds to complexity to the tuning..if diy that i would say yes but if u are going to pay someone to do it i don't think its a good idea.. no regrets doing my d15b2/y8 mini me though there were learning experiences along the way though most of those were attributed to swapping the y8 intake manifold as well

I say go for it as well. I wonder if there is a guide somewhere that could clearly explain how to perform the mini-me. That would help a lot.

if you have the following

d16a6
d16y7

then its WORTH doing a mini me

if you have a d15b7 or any d15 imo its NOT worth it
